I have a problem with a web player for my station.

While we have studio presenters we have also online ones - when a presenter disconnects and another connects if the two are using different bitrates the listeners will have jumpy music with the new presenter until they refresh their player.

I remember we had someone fix this with my old station by making the web player automatically refresh when it detected a disconnect however we haven't been able to get this working with the new web player.

Anyone got any ideas? I'll rep anyone for helping!

Thanks

Would you not just delay the radio by like 50secs? that way even it gives the presenters that long to connect, they don't need the same bitrate and there will be no buffer. Forget how to do it now. I'm pretty sure it'd something to do with your hosts end.

Not too sure what you mean. We can do a countdown and give them so long to connect the problem is that once they have swapped over the player will buffer till a refresh. We basically want it to go from one show to another without the listeners having to refresh themselves

No but I mean basically delay the radio so when ppl listen in they're a few mins behind so if there is any connection issues it wouldn't buffer.

Our station is usually delayed anyway's but does seem to buffer still. Is there a way to make sure there is a delay?

Enforce your DJ's to use the same bitrate. It's what all the big radio's do :)

Place this code on the same page as the radio player, will refresh every X amount of seconds:

<?php
$page = $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'];
$sec = "X"; // edit the value to how many seconds
header("Refresh: $sec; url=$page");
?>
