If you answer the door, make sure it's on the latch, and if you don't have a latch but something heavy behind the door, or if you don't have something heavy only open the door by exactly 4cm and wedge your foot by the bottom, just INCASE it is some freaky man, which it probably isn't, but..BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY.

Erm, if your brace enough to fully open the door, dress up in any random halloween costume you've got lying around, or get a really big knife, basically what I'm saying is, scare them away.
