School Email

We never had a school email at my old school but now everyone is given one at my Sixth Form. Just wondered how common they were, or whether they've become increasingly popular over the past few years?

We're encouraged to have emails forwarded to our phones actually, so they can pretty much contact us whenever! :P

I've had a school email since I was 8 or something. More recently we're encouraged to check them on a daily basis as a lot of time sensitive information gets sent by email.

We got one when we started high school, but the only thing I used it for was to email assignments to people, email myself stuff when I forgot to bring my USB, and spam email with my friends. And then they changed it so that you could look up people in the school and everyone found the way email everybody in the school so now the only emails I get are mass messages saying stuff like:

"lol hi every1 laura smells rofl how r u?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111"

I never got an email when I was at high school but I did get an email when I started college, well to be honest I have two for some random reason. I don't really check it and I probably should but I have used it to sign up to Student stuff like Microsoft DreamSpark and other services.

I've had a school email since I went into Secondary School nearly 5 years ago. I have used it for my benefit in the past like emailing attachments so I can finish/print them off at school instead of using a memory stick, but it's also a good tool to use when you are in a computer suit sitting in silence. haha.

We had school emails introduced to my Primary school when I was in yr 5, I remember for homeworks we had to make our homepage for them really good and stuff, haha. I then got another for my Secondary school. The only time I ever use the email now if when I'm sending homeworks to myself to print at school, but I rarely do that now as I have a decent memory stick. I guess I'll use it if I send stuff to the teacher, but I don't do that much either. :P Um, the school email always seems to go wrong for me, it always says my inbox is full when there's nothing in it, so that's another reason as to why I don't use it. :)

We have one in College ours is like L0010253 though so silly, I only manage to remember it because it's nearly the area code for Blackpool or is it Ingoldmells haha.

I have a school email but I rarely use it as it's usually for spammy emails sent to everyone at the school or whenever I need to send some documents home. It's unfortunate that we cannot use it for a better cause like you mentioned Mathew.

Google Apps for Education, it's good ****.

We had our own e-mail in lower/middle school... funnily enough not in upper though. At Uni it's basically our lifeline to all our tutors/lecturers though :P

Had one here for the past 5 years, can't remember if I had one in my old school but here I use it to contact teachers etc when I don't want to use my embarrassing email :P they use the gmail thingy too although now they're removed the chat on it no one uses it....

I got a school one for 6 form, only so that we could use it to apply for uni stuff as it looked better (apparently)

I've got a uni one now, only ever use it to get spammed by the uni :p

Had one since year seven at my old high school which was really good - it had Outlook on the PCs and I used it all the time to spam fellow class mates and to get the weekly news from the school. Then I moved to a public school and their e-mail system was the most rubbish thing ever. It wasn't even proper and my username was the longest thing ever - only used it once I think. Now, at college I use mine all the time because I have my e-mails sent to my phone and we get the student bulletin, college news, traffic problems and stuff - it is a sub-domain from live.com - (Hotmail), but in some ways it's good because we get SkyDrive etc.

So now there's no getting away from them then is there? haha! Our school don't have them no, but some teachers could be like " Can I have your email addresses to forward you such and such work? " Of course my reply would be '' No, I don't have an e-mail. " :P

My school has one, and its sent through our school website accounts that teachers created for us. Its actually quite interesting, briefs you with weekly info.

nope, we don't have one. homework is set in planners and any important information is giving through school newsletters.

I've had a school email since year 7, but when I was at school and college me and my friends used to just send funny photos to each other which was always a laugh but now i'm at uni it's a good way of keeping in contact with my lecturers, events that are happening around uni and it's how uni get in contact with us about important information.
