Can someone explain what the Rasperry PI is for? I've heard people about it but all I could see is its for schools teaching people about electronics.

1. First batches are supposed to ship in the next two - three weeks, but they're in such high demand if you didn't order in the first 15 minutes of the site opening up you won't get one for a few months now at least

2. I highly doubt we'll see an Android release for it, it only has 256MB RAM after all

It's a tiny ARM based computer, designed to be so cheap no one has to worry about breaking it, which makes it ideal for teaching kids programming languages and the like. It's also been taken up by the general public for various projects (like a HD media center, small servers etc), I'm getting one for various things like portable web servers, development servers and random projects I come across, at work I'll be trying to some to run our digital signage.

Mines due to arrive within a week :D

It would probably be able to run Android, but only probably up to something like 1.6, which but be pretty useless anyway, and it means all that work for it.

I'm planning on using mine for a Media Center, and another, hopefully as a portable PC, so I can just plug it into a TV when I need it.

God dammit, I hope RS gets them out next week/week after then... they've confirmed I'm in the first batch but apparently they're doing compliance testing at the moment :(
