The official fansite status has been axed, Sulake has confirmed.

In one of the biggest Habbo fansite shake-ups since they were introduced more than half a decade ago, Sulake today confirmed that it was booting the 'official fansite status' in order to ensure "fair treatment for all".

The fansite builder Grecian9, made the shocking announcement via the Sulake blog in which he said: "We like the enthusiasm of our fans on fansites and want to encourage the activities. To improve our communication with fansites, we are putting together a mailing list to give sneak peeks and advanced information to sites that support Habbo.

"If you run a fan site and want the sneak peeks, contact us at [email protected] (with your site address, contact email and Twitter account), or by contacting Fansite_jason on Twitter. We will review your site and add you to the mailing list.

"For even more updates, be sure to follow our staff twitter accounts as they will be posting things too."

He continued by stating that it was time to give "equal treatment for all", expressing: "Moving forward, we want to discontinue the use of the word ‘Official’ on fansites. Fanites just need to register for our mailing list."

The news means that fansites such as HabboFunFM, HabboHut and ClubHabbo will now be stripped of their notorious status in favour of a new 'free-for-all' system giving thousands of fansites across the globe the chance to grab sneak peaks of upcoming updates.

The changes have outraged several recognised fansites, who have since condemned the idea as "silly" and "ridiculous" as Sulake attempts to implement changes that will focus the online virtual world back on the "user."

What do you think?

This happened a while ago and there's a number of threads that have been posted on the matter when it actually happened. Such as this: http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=738790

I think the whole "Offical" business was kinda dumb to begin with cause it left out some people. Also what makes a fansite "Offical" and what makes it not "Offical."
