Do you think this is unprofessional?

Hi everyone.

I am fuming for many other reasons but this has topped it off and I wanted to know, would you be angry if one of your lecturers / teachers had put your name wrong on the report / testimonial at the end of term.

I got my college one today and every lecturer said "Alex, (which is my name), is doing great and has settled in well..... bla bla bla.

And then this other lecturer which is like insane already put "Elliott is doing good. Elliott is going to get a distinction" etc.

I am FUMING because I thought someone would check them...

Is it okay for me to be annoyed or am I making a huge thing out of nothing. Imagine if this had happened to you!

They do mass amounts of reports so the copy and paste template is expected. It was always obvious in school when a teacher hadn't bothered to add a personal touch. It's a shame that all of your lecturers stuck to the script but its the script they use cos it gets across the info they need to in the shortest amount of time possible. As for getting your name wrong, that's what happens when you're doing lots and the copy and paste method. Personally, making a huge thing out of nothing as reports don't even matter at the end of the day (probably hence the lack of time spent on them). Get that distinction, Elliott... i mean Alex... that's what counts :D

Thanks but I know they have no script as I saw one of my lecturer's writing them and all of them have added their own touch apart from this person who got my name wrong. One of my other lecturer's said they were pleased with my Work Experience from M&S etc. But thank you anyway, you definitely cheered me up! :)

Oh my teachers always did stuff like this. They never put any time or effort into them and when I compared them to others reports in the class they were pretty much the same comments. No good getting worked up about it though, although I can see why you're angry.

My teachers called me Jessica on my report haha, it was really annoying. But teachers have like 150 reports to write on kids each term so I wouldnt worry about it

Yeah, that happened to my friend before. The point is it's a college and all of my lecturers at the moment only teach us. They have hardly any reports to do and it is not generic. I am angry because it's the one lecturer who never turns up on time, never sets work etc. and we all hate her - it just reinforces my point about her really.

Anyway, I've calmed down now and I find it really stupid and kind of funny. Weird how your mood can change so quickly! That's what rapid cycling does to you...

Yeah but this was one lecturer and they only had to write about us - they only teach us and we see all of our lecturers every day.

My teachers always used to do this. The amounts of variations of my name were endless. Stepan, Stefpan, Stephen, Steven, Stephan. You get what I mean. It got me annoyed but I wasn't overly angry.

Hmm, I remember this was always happening to me! I'd be called Georgina (not so bad, I guess!) and Lucy in my reports.. If you're really annoyed about it then I'd ask them to change it.

It happens all the time. I've been called by different names and been called a he before lol. Some of my teachers just copy and paste it all cause I'll be sat next to my friend who has an almost identical report expect for a few adjectives changed. It doesn't really matter :P

Yeah our college reports were always really similar but I guess you have to remember they are really busy and writing a personal one out for everyone would take them hours on top of what they already have to do.

I can imagine after a few students they can get a bit sick of trying to come up with a different way to say the same thing so I don't blame them for copying and pasting it, pretty bad they didn't get your name right but you can just inform them and they'll probably sort it.

I Also go college and every teacher i had, got me and my friend confused as mine and her names are similar. It got frustrating when she got payed for not coming into college and i didnt get payed as they thought i was her.

It probably was a mistake though. Maybe show it to the teacher and say you wanted to know if the distinction bit is true and she got the names mixed up, or she was talking about that student and yours may be different. After all , reports are supposed to tell you how your doing !

UM, read the question and the input I said and then answer this question again. I don't mean to be rude but really.. my lecturers at college do NOT copy and paste reports. I know this for a fact and they have now sorted out the problem.

Hm, they don't use templates and I know this for a fact so don't go telling me what they do and don't considering you're not taught there. Gheesh, they do in most other schools and colleges but not at this one because I have been talking to my tutor and comparing reports. Don't mean to be angry but I think I know what my college does and doesn't do considering I go there and you don't?!

Calm down, it's only a report. Yes they may only have 15 pupils but you try being a teacher for one day and actually experience how stressful it can actually be. They're bound to make mistakes, they can't do everything correct always they're only human.

For me, sure I loved the comments, but as I grew, the remarks are almost the same.
They don't have alot of criticism, and I did get agitated.
