Hey,
A friend has a toshiba satellite C660-119 any time he connects to the wireless it then disconnects a few seconds later. I don't know what the problem could be. Any other laptops from the same household work fine bar his. Any ideas on what may possibly be the problem?

This, happened with me. I just reset the router then it worked.
Could be the router not picking up the laptops signal so there could be a problem with the actual laptop.

It could simply be incompatible with some of the router's wireless settings, change everything to the default or open and try connecting again (just be sure to change them back afterwards).

I have a similar problem with a Toshiba L300 and a Virgin Media Hub. It just flat out refuses to connect. You could just get a new wireless card, they're about a fiver for a mini PCI-E one and they just swap out.
