Hello,

I am certain that I want to get an iPhone and I am due an upgrade at the end of next month. Should I upgrade to iPhone 4S then or should I wait for the new iPhone to come out (does anyone have an estimated date)?

+REP for all helpful replies

In my opinion, I know a LOT of people would think differently,

But I think there's so many more phones out there that can do a better job than the iPhone? :(

Samsung seem to be doing so much better than Apple in the market at the minute...

But I think 15th of June is the expected release date for the iPhone 5 :)

I was thinking the same, I was gonna go out and buy one rather than do a monthly bill-pay. But I don't see why I should pay such a high amount for something, then a newer version come out at the end of the year.

But yes, do an upgrade perhaps and then upgrade again when the newer version comes out.

iPhone 5 won't be out in June if the 4s hasn't been out a year...

I'd tell you to wait until Samsung release their Galaxy S3 phone, it'll be a freakin' beast of a phone.

I don't see the point, they bring a new one out so much that you barely have time to use the one you currently have and there is probably better phones out there but I don't have an iPhone and I've never used one so that's just my opinion.

bit of a tough one if we're not sure when the new one will be out, i'd definitely recommend an iphone (it's the best phone/device/OBJECT i've ever had) but i would probably wait it out for a while.

everyone has their own opinions, do you have to get it right now?

you could wait for the iPhone 5 and see if you like it and buy it, but the 4s will come down in price when the 5 comes out. So if you can wait I'd suggest just waiting and seeing if you actually like the iPhone 5, from what I've heard its very different.

You should wait for the iPhone 5, it's June I think it comes out! There brilliant phones but there very similar to ipads/ipods just messaging and phoning thats different.

I wouldn't sign up for a 2 year contract if the iPhone 5 is supposed to be coming out soon. Saying that I signed up to a 2 year contract with Vodafone in January for my 4S, I'm really not bothered about newer models coming out. I'm quite content with my 4S and I'm not one of those to run out and buy the latest gadgets as soon as they're released, I don't see the point.

I would wait until the iPhone 5 comes out and either get that or the 4S.

I have an iPhone 4 and its great, but I'm sure there's much much better phones (for the price) out there.

i think the best option for you to take is to wait a while until the new one is out. there's not really any point in getting the iphone4s if you're just going to want the new one when it's out is there? haha, it's up to you tho. make the right decision.

If the iPhone 5 comes out in June, I'll eat my god damn hat.

Apple are known for doing yearly release cycles on these products, I'd expect it to come out in November time.

As I say, the Galaxy S3 will beat anything Apple release this year anyway.

I'm thinking of getting an Iphone but i'd have to pay like £500 for it since I'm not allowed on contract but then again the Samsung Galaxy is amazing too

Well to be fair the iPhone 4S was the only one out of them all that came out in October/November time and the previous models were between June/July. So I would say get that hat ready to eat just in case!

I know this is a week old but the best thing to do in my opinion is ask yourself what do you need your phone to do and compare them and you might be surprised.

I had a debate at one point when I was trying to choose a new phone a few months before Christmas - someone basically saying there was nothing compared to the iPhone and I was stupid for thinking otherwise - the thing is the Iphone might be the popular one and the one that often gets more press coverage but there are loads of phones very similar.

I have a Samsung galaxy s2 and If I'm correct it has a little more power in it than the iPhone 4s processor wise - although don't tell that to Iphone fans as they make up figures I've seen.

Do you want to have the latest fashion accessory or something that does what you need it to and cheaper. Also if you do go for the iPhone, if the iPhone 4s does what you need it then you might be best buying it if you need one now - you may end up only paying for extra features you don't really need when the new iPhone 5 is out
