View Full Version : is easter a big deal in yr house?

i read in the easter egg thread that some people don't get easter eggs anymore even at 13/14. in my house (regardless of age) we always get an easter egg (or an equivalent item) and we always do an easter hunt.

it's not that we're religious at all, it's just one of those things we've always done: though i suppose it helps that because my younger sister is 10 we still all chip in.

how about you? do you have any special traditions for good friday or the easter weekend. or is it just another sunday for you?

It's never been a big deal to me. Used to get easter eggs, then it went to money for a couple of years, now I don't really get anything. We've never 'celebrated' easter in any way, or done anything special on the Friday or Sunday. To me it's just an excuse to buy cadbury mini eggs.

nope. i'm 20 and my sister is mid-teens so all the fun and games are over. don't go church either so i'll probably munch on hot cross buns and bout it rly.

Last year mum did an easter egg hunt thing like just sticky notes (3c in cat) saying stuff like YOU ARE THIRSTY, NEED A DRINK? and then the next clue is in the drinks cupboard or w/e and then eventually they were just in the dining room all along lol but usually no it's not a big deal. I don't understand people who get actual presents like oh it's Easter here have another PS3

Not BIG big but I get a couple eggs a year, nice to munch on when you get the craving :P
I remember doing egg hunts when I was younger, and used to roll all my eggs down the stair lol :D

I was shocked as well when I saw that thread with everyone saying they were 'too old for an Easter egg now'

I mean, you're never too old for an Easter egg...

It's not a 'MASSIVE' deal in my family, but we do always have eggs, and a big Easter dinner, like Christmas dinner :o

it's just like an ordinary weekend for me, nothing special.
i don't tend to get any eggs and usually ask for or get money anyway.

I don't think it's ever been a big deal. We use to get Easter eggs and then it swapped to we'd get a present or something small and then we got money. I don't know what is happening this year, I don't really care either to be honest.

For my house, Easter is religious so practically I've gotta go to 7 churches tonight.
Bull****.

We did when I was younger but after i was like 14/15 or something we stopped doing things like easter egg hunts and getting easter eggs. My mum tends to buy us a pack of 6 creme eggs but that's as far as easter goes in my house.

We don't celebrate it, just have some chocolate. I don't think anyone in my family views it as a religious time of year now. Never been church for it either.

I still get the odd egg, but easter has never really played a big part in my life - just free chocolate really.

Always used to smash my eggs over my head.

Telford isn't the black country, we avoid them. Get the **** out.

I think i've only been to church for easter when I was at primary school.

Nah we don't really do anything for Easter, when we were younger we used to do little things but saying that I'm 17 nearly 18 and my sisters 16 so it's sort of like we've grown out of it somewhere.

my mums family are catholic but ever since they moved up here, where religion isn't popular, they've stopped celebrating pretty much everything. my gran and grandad used to go to church for readings on good friday (they don't celebrate mass during easter iirc), i went once or twice when i was younger and they fasted too, i got money not easter eggs. it's usually a normal day for me and my mums sisters and their families.
