"Middle ground" on rules in Graphics

Perhaps just a suggestion, make the current rules only applicable if the person requests for how to improve. This would mean that if a post in that thread does not mention any way in how it can be improved for example "The shading on the ball looks flat, try x method of shading", or any sort of criticism with no real solution as such like "I'm not sure x goes with y". However this would mean that comments such as "I think that the bunny is better than the fox" would not be acceptable anymore.

However if no request of improvement is given, then any sort of reply (within reason) is accepted.

I think this is the best solution to avoid "over moderation" and to appease the frustation felt when you seek criticism and all you get is "cute xo".

Bane of my life. Graphics is one area of the forum in which people abuse it, in order to get their post count up, half the time I swear people don't even look at what they're commenting on. I've moaned about this is the past, and was just jumped upon and given the "but not everyone is into graphics" bollocks - but you can atleast suggest some improvements in your post, nothing is perfect.

I've also noticed a lot of repetition, ie. one person will make a comment "all you've done is change the lighting"(here (http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=740636)), and then 12 people replied with virtually exactly the same thing. Although, I'm not entirely sure what can be done about this I just know it's ******* annoying.

Happened all the time when I posted all my graphics back in 08, happened reoccuringly afterwards, we did get the rule of criticism must be given etc in place at one point I believe. But I just left here and started posting my alts on other forums where people actually didn't spam it with "well done", it's like me going into all the game forums and spamming "GG Bro", it just wouldn't happen.

Yeah I remember posting a graphic ages ago and said to dbgtz; on msn 'I bet you I'll get a 'it's cute' really quickly' then about 3 people posted the same thing. I remember there used to be stricter rules forbidding things like 'it's good' what's good? Anyway, I got told they would be warned if they persistently did it, can't see that happening can you?

I sometimes say CC please and still don't get it. Pity.

yeah i agree. if some specifically asks for improvements then those that post in the thread should be giving suggestions for improvements. i know it's nice to be told "there isn't any need for improvement" or "i think it looks nice" but i think that's more appropriate to leave in a reputation comment which is what it's there for. imo although they may really like it i think most will post for post count or reputation which isn't really fair on the person posting their graphic.

yeah generic posts do my head in , even though i sometimes take the piss and do it. Got mattg to edit my bunny thread so people would actually give improvements but only few have.

the rule on it is kind of one sided cause it only gives an example on "bad." when saying "good." is just as annoying and pointless.


2. If you are not going to give constructive criticism, don't post at all - please do not reply with things like: bad. If you think it is bad then tell him or her how to improve it and actually help the member.

I agree with this, even though I probably make generic posts myself I do always try and add some comment in relating to the work posted but it is annoying. I posted my photo thread the other week mainly for c+c as it was the first time I'd taken any photos and while the positive comments were nice, I don't feel I really got the c+c I asked for.

Yeah I agree with the above posts, I usually see a couple of people asking for c+c and they'll only get a bit. I think c+c rules do need to be enforced more rather than people just posting "this is cute".
