Soooooo apparently I have to finally upgrade from this nvidia 6100 I've had for the last what 4 years because it is pants and hardly allows anything good to run, however I have two glaring problems:

1) I know nothing about graphics cards
2) I have very little money

Sooo good people of tech, rather than being a "TELL ME WER 2GET D L8ST N GR8ST GFX" type thread I am asking if you pretty please can point me in the direction of something fairly decent but also as cheap as possible :P obv everyone loves rep more than life itself so I will fling some your way if you can be of help

CHEERS DARLINGS XOXO

It generally depends on how much you're willing to fork out, you say as cheap as possible, would you be willing to spend £50-80? Hopefully this article is useful to you..

Obviously some of them on there surpass £100, which isn't really budgeting, but there are a few cheap ones on there.

4. Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 6570

Reviewed on: 28 September 11
RRP: £56 inc VAT
Rating:
You’re unlikely to be buying this card for gaming. If that’s your interest then the £100 AMD Radeon HD 6770 ought to be the cheapest card to aim for. But the 6570’s video playback is smooth, and it still offers an performance advantage over onboard graphics. As a quiet low-power card ideal for HTPCs, the 6570 is a very palatable option.

Also, what do you want to be able to run on your computer? As that will also adjust the price...

How much money are you willing to spend? We need at least a rough estimate.

Really can't see myself spending over £50 at absolute maximum if I can get away with it, just want to have something good enough to run PES2012 haha. Found some on the AMD site (http://shop.amd.com/uk/All/Search?SearchFacets=category%3AGraphic%20Card&SortBy=priceLowToHigh) for like £30 but no idea how good or bad they might be, whether there are cheaper ones of similar/better quality out there, or any of that kind of thing, which is where I hope some of the more experienced chaps could help. I don't want to go ahead with buying one just because the price looks right only to find it's still not good enough basically :P

have a look at the minimum requirements for PES2012 and go from there?

Found a site that checks compatibility of setups with certain games and that one looks like it ought to be gooood and importantly it's the right price so thanks guys :P one last question though, simply because they happen to be the same price - what's the difference if any between a Novatech HD5450 and a Sapphire HD5450? All I can see looking at the specs is that a Sapphire has lower "memory effective size" (and I don't know if that's good or bad haha) and a silent cooling system which I'm guessing is its main selling point

You'll need to link the two cards you are referring to in order for us to tell you the difference (if any).

The non-sapphire one has some games with it but not actually bothered about them lol

I ordered the Novatech one yesterday, thanks Robbie!

OT: They are both EXACTLY the same, Just the branding and the cooler, both have no fan, so are silent are are passively cooled.

Just get the one with the games, only reason I did was because it was the same and you never know when you get bored :')

Or get this one, its the same just without the games, and its cheaper:

Well the sapphire one IS a nice colour but since it'll be shut away inside the tower like Rapunzel I'll nab that cheaper one, thanks! Much appreciated everyone, you are starrrrs

Funny how it only performs 66% better than the one you have now..

Sounds like a fair bit of difference to me considering how that means the current one is only 60% as good, rather spend £20 to make things work properly than working at just over half requirement

You should know that the 5450 is not designed as a gaming card and is only a small improvement over modern integrated graphics. Really it is intended for HTPC devices (why it comes with the low profile bracket).

My advice would be a complete system upgrade. You're using something ~6 years old.

Considering I'm trying to play a £20 football game offline and everything else works fine I think that would be a horrendous waste of money that I don't really have :P if I was a games tester or entered myself in tournaments or something then maybe there would be a point in doing that I guess
