I thought it would be fun to stack up the big artists of the past decade or so based on their best-selling digital single. This accounts for all sales on digital outlets like iTunes and Amazon. It reminds me of a lot of overplayed tracks but that is the point, I guess! This is a bit of a guessing game for you with options before the answer. The genres are all taken from official music journals so don't yell at me if you think 'My Humps' is more pop than hip hop!

Thank you! This is based entirely on digital sales via iTunes, Amazon and the other smaller music shops online. As of about four years after its release counting all sales since debut, 'We Belong Together' had thirteen other singles ahead of it in sales. There are more now because the top singles on the sales list were all released within the past few years. It is interesting how the digital sales thing works, eh? I really am glad that you found this interesting! I had fun writing it.

Eric - Britney doesn't have remarkable digital sales. Her best selling single is 'Toxic' with sales around 6.500.000. The closest to that is half a million less for 'Womanizer'. I love Britney, though - I think she puts out albums that generally have no filler, at least for me. I love that.
