Today at school in PE we were doing shot put and the grass outside was quite wet and muddy.
When I picked up the shot put and carried out the instructions my PE teacher had given I realised I had disgusting mud and grass all on my hand from it.
When it was my next go I really didn't want to touch it so I kept it on the floor and raised my foot over it to 'cover' it and got into the correct position to throw it and had my hand behind my head so he couldn't see that I wasn't actually holding it and I was hoping that he'd be looking the other way at the other students when we had to throw it so I could just kick the shot put out onto the grass to make it look like I had thrown it but I was facing slightly the wrong way and he noticed and told me to turn and I did. Unfortunately, he then decided to watch me as he told us to throw it. When he said throw I just stood still, keeping my hand behind my head (this was so awkward) and he frowned and said what are you doing? I just stood still as I didn't know what else to do.

What's the most awkward situation you've ever been in or what's the most awkward moment you've had?

how is that awkward
i have loads i say/do things that comes out wrong then i try to fix it and it gets worse

for example years ago a new guy moved to our school n we all had a crush on him right n he was on the football team!!! we were cheerleading for him while he was playing and i slipped on the mud in my white 3 quarters when he was looking. k if that wasn't bad enough i thought i would rub my ass against a lampost while they were in the changing roms to try get the mud off at the exact moment he came out of the room. i walked off nearly crying with embarrassment and he shouted at me to tell me i had mud on my bum. THANKS. :(

That is definitely more embarrassing than not wanting to do shotput.

At my old school we did a play and there was a scene where a group of us boys, had to dress up as girls in dresses (this was at an all boys school) and that, my friend, was embarrassing but I can laugh about it now as it was just stupid.

did you even read it properly?

If you had read it properly you would've understood.
This was awkward. Trust me.
Everyone else had thrown theirs and I realise I've added too much after the actual awkward situation so it just makes it sound like I just refused to do it or whatever but it's been removed so it makes more sense now.

This also proves you didn't even read it properly. Clearly the embarrassing/awkward moment was not 'not wanting to do shotput'

It's still not awkward. You didn't want to touch a piece of mud, and also decided that it would be preferable to KICK the thing away to make it look like you'd thrown it, which would almost certainly have broken your toes if not your foot considering you'd have to kick it with enough force to look like a throw attempt. That's petty and stupid, but certainly not awkward.

Not sure what my MOST awkward moment ever is but my stepdad walking into my room to ask for a DVD while I was bumming my ex was pretty odd

You haven't understood this either. The first bit was explaining how the whole situation happened, and is clearly not the 'awkward moment'. If I had just said everyone had thrown their shotput and I was stood, frozen whilst my teacher stared at me waiting for me to throw something he thought I had in my hand which I didn't it probably wouldn't of made much sense because you wouldn't know why I didn't have it in my hand or where it was etc. Also by 'kick' obviously I wouldn't of kicked it, I was planning on shuffling in along the grass with the side of my foot as I was hoping he would be facing the other way, as I said. Hardly petty? I have a disorder which I shouldn't have to explain to make people think I'm not pathetic for not wanting to touch mud.

if you have a disorder where you can't touch mud, why don't you explain that with a doctors note to your pe teacher then you wouldn't get into ~awkward~ moments lol

I read it, but I didn't think that pretending to do shotput was awkward... I didn't really find any of the story awkward.

I feel like the word awkward is used bandied about too much.

Aw Paige how awkward xD x

Umm I can't think of anything really awkward happening to me off of the top of my head...

Umm maybe on the last week of term when we did the sport relief mile. I did it 3 legged (with two other people). I just fell over and got a mouthful of mud and spat it all out infront of the person I like...
I know its not really awkward but believe me, at the time I wanted to die of awkwardness xD

Erm I was at Sandcastle Waterpark in Blackpool and me and my sister were going on the fast slides. We were racing and my dad was waiting at the bottom. He was pointing at me when I got down and I thought I'd won so I started walking over to him and he's shouting at me and then I realised my swimming costume had come down and you could see my chest.

Another time I was at college going upto the computer room and I was wearing military boots. I'd already tripped once so I was being careful and my friend past me on the stairs so I smiled and then fell up the stairs. Worst part was that when i had media with her she told me she saw me fall up the stairs even though I didn't think anyone did :(.

it's not a health issue why would I go to the doctors and get a doctors note for a psychological disorder? also we weren't told we were doing shotput today or that the grass was going to be wet and muddy lol

jk im not th@ stupid how awkward xD x

Paige; erm psychological disorders are health issues, your doctor helps you out with that.... if you give them a note from the very beginning they'll remember about it and understand when you say later on "it's muddy, i can't touch mud"
common sense really aint common izit.

Grass gets wet when it rains and it becomes muddy when the moisture soaks into the soil and then people walk on the grass.

You can't really make comments saying that my 'awkward moment' wasn't awkward as you posted this in a thread which asks you to post your most awkward moment

embarrassing.

Awkward: causing difficulty or hard to deal wit
Embarrassing: causing a feeling of self-consciousness or shame

i've had this problem before in PE but i didn't really think anyone would be able to help me with it and the teachers just took it as defiance as they didn't really understand so i think getting a note or someone to explain would be a good idea, thank you. it's not really common sense for me though because i haven't ever been to see my actual doctor for it i've only ever been to this 'special place' (lol) and nobody has ever suggested this to me before as i haven't mentioned the problem in PE as it's embarrassing for me as people don't understand and think i'm just pathetic or something but i'll talk to someone about this, thank you.

That's what I love about P.E. I mean, it's called Physical Education but you're never sure whether you are doing physical activities or not.

Awkward is a completely different meaning for me and everyone around where I live and it's like hard to explain it's like an embarrassing moment mixed with like it's hard to explain but it's used a lot where I am and it's nothing like that definition haha also this thread is about awkward moments not embarrassing moments :)

We're never told what we're doing or where we are doing it when we come back from a half term. We could've been playing netball or on the dry playground or been inside the sports hall :L

Awkward has the meaning which was previously posted, what you beleive to be awkward, wasn't, you didn't want to get your hands dirty, because you have some form of OCD I take it? Correct me if I am wrong. You can't make up your own meaning for a word, so therefore, you are wrong. You were just being a pansy, I don't like to get my hands dirty, but hey, if I am in a field, it's raining, and I want to play football, I'm going to get filthy, and not complain. A real awkward moment is when your girlfriend's dad walks in and catches you with your pants down and on top of his daughter.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I believe Paige was referring to the part where she's stood there pretending to throw it - without it in her hand. Imo that would be awkward because your teachers expecting you to do something, but like, what can you do? XD the space where your teachers waiting for you to throw it is the main awkward part.

Not making up my own meaning of a word. Where I come from awkward means what it means and I'm not going to change the meaning of it for me just because a few people on a forum don't share the same meaning. Obviously I'm not the only person on this forum who shares the same meaning as Cerys and a few others have shown. Why do people keep going on about me not wanting to touch mud? That's not even the awkward moment so.. shut up about the mud and if you've read Cerys' post below you should now understand, and if not I really couldn't care less :L

You know what, I'm not even going to bother arguing with a child, you're being ignorant and not willing to listen, if not a clean freak, you're lazy, whatever the reason, I frankly do not care. People have to do things they do not want to, learn that quickly, because otherwise, life isn't going to go your way at all.

Didn't start this thread to cause arguments? People just decided to cause an unnecessary disagreement. Also you clearly are going to bother arguing with 'a child' because you wouldn't of posted any more if not. Ignorant and not willing to listen? Listen to what? Listen to people telling me that not wanting to touch mud isn't awkward when I didn't say it was in the first place? I'm not a freak and laziness hasn't got anything to do with anything talked about in this thread so.. and I also frankly do not care what you think of me. I realise that people have to do things they do not want to as I'm having to explain myself to people I don't even know when I don't want to but they decide to pick holes in me for no reason without knowing me?
