So a few days ago I decided I would start making some basic tutorials about web hosting and certain aspects of the internet. Last night I set about setting up a website to showcase the videos on.

So I'm wondering if you guys will review both the site and the videos for me?

Thanks :)

You're doing screencasts without commentary, I seriously don't get the point. It's just a standard wordpress blog with a theme off the wordpress site, not much to say about it.

Just about the only interesting bit is the domain name.

Yeah but you've got to start somewhere don't you? At the minute I'm just getting used to the software then I'll be moving onto adding voiceovers etc.

Agreed but these seem like half-way there attempts, you need to focus on the videos first and improve the production value more before you push any-more out. The only way to be successful in this is to put in time, money and effort.

There's no point making a website to promote a service no one wants to use.

People obviously want them, as my YouTube has had over 2000 views within the past week. I understand about investing time, effort and money into it but when you're on a tight budget the moneys a bit out of the question. I'm making do with what I already have.

The time, yes these videos do take time and with time they will get better. It's as much a learning curve in making videos as it is sharing what I already know. However, sometimes knowledge is hard to translate into practicality.

The idea of the website, isn't soley to promote the videos which arn't a service as you don't pay for them. They're to be freely available for people who merely have no idea about what's shown within the videos.

I like the domain, keep going and learning. You could stick at it and make this big :)

That's my idea, learn in the begining and once I've learnt concentrate on making what I've learnt and what I already know something spectacular. I know Demo Wolf make video tutorials for web hosting companies etc, but you have to pay for those.

Something which I don't see the point in, I'd rather make them freely available and jut use an advert on the site to pay for the upkeep of the site. Or donations from the users.

Don't listen to the negative comments. I won't name specifics but 2000 views in one week is a lot more than some other projects get, aha! I think you are great for trying to help and this will be a great experience for your users and, above all, yourself. Cheers!

Thanks for your comment Jasey, to be honest the website has only been live less than 24 hours and already has received 19 unique views making a total of 68p from adverts. So already it's proving it's worth as a free resource.

I'll keep up with my work and I hope that eventually my website gets to be pretty well known throughout this forum, then I hope members will take their thoughts of my project to other forums.

Just a tip, move or make your "Privacy Policy" link less visible, you don't want the law being first then the product or service. Because it's like walking into a shop and the shopkeeper making sure your money is legitimate before you are allowed the product you bought.

Although I like the idea.
