Walker Falls Through Pavement

The unsuspecting teenager had been talking on her mobile phone when she was suddenly swallowed up by the street in Xi’an, northern China. Fortunately a passing taxi driver spotted the dramatic fall and quickly pulled over to help.

Driver Wang Wei climbed into the pit but was unable get out of the hole once he made contact with the girl as the earth beneath them continued to shift. "I called out to her but she didn't respond,” said Wang Wei. “After I shook her a little, she came to. The dirt kept showering down on us and the kid couldn't stop crying”.
The pair finally managed to escape when firefighters arrived and extended a ladder to help them ascend to the surface. “The ladder kept moving about, it's a little flimsy and the girl kept screaming out of fear,” Wang Wei said. “So I told her to go first and I'll be right behind her. Finally we managed to get out”. The pavement is thought to have been destabilised by underground water which created a cavity just underneath the surface.

I'd hate for something like that to happen to me, it'd probably happen when no-one was around as well so no-one could help me but at least they got out alright.

Wow that video makes it look so bad...

Did she break any bones or whatever? She could so easily have landed badly and broken a leg or something.
At least someone actually stopped to help, it reminds me of the little girl that was run over and people were scared to stop and help in case they get in trouble.

You'd be surprised, one of my friends was telling me about something I don't know if she read it of she actually heard about it at her work because she works at a doctors surgery but ye she was saying how the NHS sometimes fail with spotting abuse and stuff like that, there was appaz this girl who was only like 15 used to come in all the time covered in bruises etc genuinely looked a state and nobody did anything and apparently in the end it was a taxi driver who said "I'm taking you to the hospital now" and then yeah. I was surprised by it 'cause out of all people you wouldn't think it would be a taxi driver who was willing to help and didn't turn a blind eye.

Anyway on topic lol that's awful I hope they're gonna go for some compensation.
