Pricing looks very competitive if you want more storage. 100GB for $4.99 a month.

I think this could be a huge hit, especially if they manage to make it work pretty seamlessly across a number of devices like they make out to be. I'd love something like this on my laptop/desktop/phone/iPad.

Looks good but I'll be using SkyDrive for the time being due to the support for all of my devices. In terms of the 100GB of space, it's £32 a year from Microsoft.

Seems competitive and handy
I can't find GBP pricing for the standard Google drive but based on the conversion for the business version of Google Drive it will work out at pretty much the same price excluding any possible discount for paying yearly + the fact you don't have to commit to a whole year.

These services are good but can't you actually get reliable VPS's for cheaper with better space?

That not the point in ANY of these services.

I know its based on the cloud and you can sync etc but I thought you could do that all with a VPS. It's not my area of expertise like and I know some will find it harder.
I'm looking for a service right now - I have my studio computer with all its music and my home computer - sometimes new music is put on either and so I'm looking for a sync service so they can all be up to date but might just use a VPS as we are gonna need one.

If you just want to sync between those computers just use rsync.

If you want to manage it yourself and can afford the expense of a VPS, then do what Dentafrice said and simply rsync at set intervals. The point in Drive is that you have your files synchronized across all your devices, including mobile and web and that you can edit them both offline and online (I also assume they'll be integrating it with Music and such later on).

Such a good deal, especially that your gmail inbox goes up to 25gb if you have a paid account.

Had a look at it but looked a bit confusing. However I'm now syncing files via Windows Live Mesh using remote access.

This looks like a good idea that google made i would do it if I really needed all of that space

Why would you need a VPS for that? Just get Google Drive or Dropbox (though obv Google Drive if you want more space), install it on both computers & boom done you've got a 2-way sync between your studio and home computer.
Seriously what the hell lol, swear you can even get FTP with half these services nowadays. Plus at least with a credible company like Google or Dropbox, you know your data is being backed up.
ANYWAY, got my google drive, probably gonna shift from Dropbox to Google Drive seeing as I get 3GB more on Google Drive and as much as Dropbox has been nice, it's pretty much identical and I can use the one login for my gmail and gdrive, easy peasy.

Why not just install Dropbox on your server to use it to sync.. then all you have to do is drop a music file in your local Dropbox folder and it will sync to the one on your server.

Also, one of the nice things about Dropbox is that it'll sync over your LAN if it detects the computers are on the same network, which I don't think Google Drive does.
