Scotland Yard has announced that missing Madeleine McCann may still be alive - as an artist's impression of what she may look like now is released.The Metropolitan Police issued a statement about its conclusion after conducting an investigative review into the case.The image released shows Madeleine as a nine-year-old, as the fifth anniversary of her disappearance approaches.The police statement said: "As a result of evidence uncovered during the review they now believe there is a possibility Madeleine is still alive and are appealing for anyone who is able to provide direct information as to her whereabouts to contact the team."

Seen this on the news yesterday, I wonder what has changed to make them think that. Must be hell on the parents who have not in the slightest been allowed to move on with their lives for the past 5 years.

It's been five years, in my opinion, there is no chance that that kid is still alive and even if she is, what makes them think that they still have a chance of finding her? You can make up as many images as you want about how she'll look when she's 9, 10, 11 but if she is still alive, chances are the person who took her has changed her appearance in some way, even if it's just the colour of her hair or the style, it's small but those things can make someone look different, especially if five years have past.

I think it's time that they just faced the reality of the situation rather than saying 'there is a chance she is still alive' and giving what could be false hope to her parents who have probably been through hell since she disappeared.

Tbh I wouldn't even be surprised if she was to come back 10 years down the line, you hear about these people going missing and then randomly showing up however many years later, however uncommon it still does happen but yeah in reality she probably isn't alive :(

Her hair will probably be brown by now, she might not even look like that and I don't see how they can create an image of interpretations. People go missing all the time but they don't get the publicity her family got.

she is dead and we need to stop wasting public money on re-opening the case. still think the parents did it.

i'm pretty sure she's dead & even if she is alive, she's going to be scarred and her mind is going to be messed up, i'm 99.9% sure whoever took her will have done some awful things to her, she might not even remember her parents, she'll probably be better off dead although it would be nice to see her perfectly fine, alive, healthy & with her family.
