I have a MBP and my Apple TV just packed in.. or I dropped it LOL, anyway I was wondering would a USB to S-Video cable work? USB in MBP into TV?

Just wondering before I go splash another £100 on a new Apple TV. I usually download loads of stuff off Piratebay and then watch it through laptop on TV, which I gotta say is a brilliant feature to have if you don't have it already. Btw it's not that I can't afford the DVDs, it's just downloading a movie takes 10 minutes, which is a lot quicker, less hassle than going into town to buy one.

So would a SVIDEO - USB work or maybe Mini DVI?

Just get a HDMI compatible TV and watch the films through a HDMI cable :D That's what I do...

You'd need hardware of some sort for USB to S-VIDEO. S-Video sucks ass anyway.

I would HDMI but MacBookPros only have usb, ethernet, firewire and thunderbolt ports.

EDIT: Oh I could HDMI through thunderbolt with DisplayPort can't I?

Mini Displayport is compatible with the Thunderbolt port, so you want something like http://www.amazon.co.uk/DisplayPort-Adapter-Converter-Cablesson-Unibody/dp/B002WSM2N6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1335456700&sr=8-2

I was thinking this, although I *believe* thunderbolt adapters exist as Tom pointed out as well.
