When mentioning people, there name should be color as their permission color, so lets say I mentioned @Martin his name would have the text color Blue (LOL Martin) . Just a way to specialize mentioning, maybe another sotra perk for buying donater or being staff

Bolt660 and the colour green both died a long time ago. :P

Thats a nice little idea though I guess haha, not sure if it would work though.

The current site I went to when I left Habbo, already has this idea on the site. I could put a link in this thread to show sorta an example of this

We already use a standard addon. May as well just keep it simple leave the tagging to normal formatting than making it so it shows the exact same colours/effects as their actual user name.

Would be quite easy to do, vB has a function to get the musername (formatted username) of someone, so you'd just do that with the username. Still pointless, however.

Yeah bit pointless, what I'd like to see is the automatic detection of @RyRy being picked up as a mention yknow, instead of tags? idk whether it's possible to detect an @ and then join it to the text and then stop the join once it hits a space (idk use ASCII properties for space?) and it'll prompt you when you post asking if you want to mention or not.

or even better having a user suggestions when you press @ ahh that'd be good.

i think it'd be really cute, but it needs to be bloody fixed first.

The normal dbtech plugin does detect @mentions in text, no need for tags, why doesn't it on here?

mattg turned on the need to close tags with ; because some peoples names didn't work.

Thread on how to actually use the tagging system, makes it so it works for all usernames and doesn't leave anyone out.

I've decided to create a small guide that explains on how you can use the user tagging system which is also known as mentioning another user. There is two main ways of doing this and below shows you both ways and how they work.

Adding the @ sign yourself:

The following must be done: username; - The semi-colon at the end needs to be there to make sure it works for all users. If it isn't there then the mention will not work.

Using the BBCode Button in Quick Reply & Advanced Editor:

http://mattgarner.net/upload/images/R3Okh.png

The button on the quick reply editor and the full advanced editor has the same http://mattgarner.net/upload/images/xqNw.png image for what can be used to mention another user in your post. To use this button then do the following:

Click the button: http://mattgarner.net/upload/images/xqNw.png (This has also been highlighted in the screenshot above in the spoiler.)

This will then automatically put these tags in the post:

Enter the username such as xxMATTGxx in the middle of the tags so it looks like this:
http://mattgarner.net/upload/images/zj4nT.png

Finish your post. A semi colon is not needed if you are using the button method, the first method the semi-colon is needed.

Note: The buttons will not appear if you are using the "Basic Editor" - You can change the editor by going to User CP > General Settings.

Hope this helps and prevents any confusion.
