Superb film, highly recommend it to anyone. Even if you haven't read the comics, it's such a great action film.
Defiantly deserves all the hype it's got, and no wonder it took over $700m at global box office, in 2 weeks.
They've also announced a sequel that I will be highly anticipating. Also announced; Iron Man 3, Thor 2(Both 2013) and Captain America 2(2014).

oh it defiantly can be a bad thing, especially if the quality of the films deteriorate as the cash cow grows :( but if the future films are as highly rated as the avengers, then they can throw as many films at me as possible :P

Joss Whedon is an expert, he's been churning out films like this for a couple of years and they've all been awesome.
The plan is that no, the future (non-avengers) movies will not step up to the Avengers line, but they'll keep on their current past and history (e.g. iron-man 2 kind of levels). The Avengers 2 I reckon will beat the first since consumer awareness will be so high.
Also to add to OP there should hopefully be a Hulk / Avengers 2 movie coming out in 2014 with CAP. Also it's no surprise that it got $200m domestic weekend which is AMAZING, beating the previous record by $30m, hopefully it'll get on par (Or beyond) with Avatar.

Just saw it, gonna be that guy and disagree with the idea that it lives up to the hype. Don't get me wrong, it's a good movie but I wasn't necessarily blown away, except for the "final showdown" part, that was pretty awesome. I thought it dragged on a bit, it didn't really need to be two and a half hours long, many parts of it bored me and had me wanting it to end. Just my opinion. That being said, the action sequences and comedic moments saved it for me.
The Dark Knight remains the best superhero movie in my opinion. I hope "Rises" smashes The Avengers' box office records.

I think to try and compare the films is wrong, they're clearly different styles. Marvel has gone down the route of comedic and action whereas DC has taken batman down the route of serious and dark.
As far as whether Rises will beat the records? I hope so, the Avengers isn't polished enough yet to warrant it's place, however I also hope they win it back next time round when they truly deserve it.

That was actually a rather tough thing that Joss Whedon had to handle, in fact the original cut was three hours long. The problem is trying to introduce six main characters with several strong supporting ones is really damn difficult without making it confusing who is who. Whilst the first film will have had a painful start I reckon the sequels will far surpass it.

So? They're both superhero movies and The Avengers broke records set by TDK, now TDKR will be a contender to take them back. They have been, are being, and still will be compared.

That's why I was sceptical about it at first, but some of the dialogue really bored the **** out of me. I loved Scarlett Johansson in it though.

I thought Avengers was amazing, hell it's made me look forward to another Hulk movie. Really love the Marvel Cinematic Universe

I've not seen it yet but i've heard so many good things about it! My brother said it must be one of the best films of this decade.

I went to see it around 2 weeks ago, nearly all my friends went to see it and they were telling me how great it is, some people even watched it three times in like a week... so I thought, yeah it has to be good - especially as I loved Captain America (apart from the ending which was a load of ********) but I have to say, I was really disappointed by this film. I actually found it quite boring until the ending bit, that was okay - but I didn't see what the whole hype was about, it was nothing special, far from it actually.

It's now sitting at around fourth place in global gross rankings, just behind Harry Potter &TDHP2, looks like it's going to keep a solid third place. I doubt it'll quite catch up to the Titanic's $2.2bn.
The dark knight rises will probably breeze past it though.
