'habbo of the month' scam/hack.

hello!

it has come to my attention that a few people, including myself, have been receiving habbo minimails about being habbo of the month or something along those lines. the way i came about this 'scam/hack' was actually via someone who i helped in the help desk not long ago. she was explaining to me that there was some sort of offical habbo competition involving a 'habbo of the month', which she said i was voted for. i didn't think anything of it at first, as she seemed quite friendly beforehand so i believed her and asked her to give me the information on the competition. she then sent me this minimail and told me that all of the information was on that page.

here's the minimail which i recieved from her:

after receiving the minimail i then clicked onto the link (which i advise you not to do) and after i clicked onto it, you could almost tell that it wasn't safe. it looked dodgy and you needed to click onto another link/button to go to the voting page. but yeah, i didn't think much of it at the time and just closed it off. however, i just found out a few minutes ago that a few other people had been sent the links saying that it was a 'scam site'

so yeah, i just thought i would let you all know about it!

They say the same to me. I did actually tweet Paul about this problem the first time I got a mini-mail and he said they were onto it or something. I don't know how long it will take them.

Someone tried this on with me once - Knew it was a scam. Asked him to come tell me the link in my room, So I could click it easier & got him banned for it ;)

Isn't it obvious that it's a scam? These sort of things are sent out all the time and it's not from the official staff mini mail feature.

It actually was.. & Someone actually chatted to me on habbo chat saying how I was like first place or something..and how I had to go to some specific link.. but I already knew it was a fake..shame

All you need really is common sense. If you get a 'mail' about some award, and there hasn't been any news about it, VIA staff, Twitter or even in the habbox news and rumours section. then it is 100% scam. Plus if it was legit, the site wouldn't ask for your password.. :rolleyes:
