British. I believe the cultures that shape Britain are more part of my life than just the English culture. It annoys me when people label the whole of Britain as 'England', when I think Wales and Scotland are equally important, as well as Northern Ireland.

English, I was born and raised in England, I don't believe in such a thing as being British, granted you have the British army, navy etc., but for nationality, I don't believe it exists.

English. I hardly use the term British ... I usually find that Americans refer to me as British, but people that I know in real life would not refer to themselves, or me, as such.

I sometimes state that I'm actually half Scottish, but I have never been to Scotland and my mum (who is Scottish) speaks with an English accent ... she doesn't play Bagpipes either.

Canadian (that doesn't count as American, does it?). However my ancestry dates back to Scottish descent.

Love how Norwegian is just there, but I'd class myself as Russian even though I've spent nearly my whole life here in the UK.

Irish-English, or just English, but never British or merely Irish. I was born and bred here in England, but my parents are Irish and my brother/sister were also born there and I have (well had, it expired last year) an Irish Passport.

What's the difference between being English and being British?

Well, all English people are British but not all British people are English. Britain includes other countries.

I class myself as English, even though I am technically half Scottish. I would also say I'm British, but only to Americans that can't quite understand the difference.

Scottish 'cause although I've lived in England for 9 years, I assume both of my parents were Scottish (one definitely is) AND when I talk in my sleep I am Scottish. PLUS I lived there before England.

I am British, in that I'm from Great Britain, and I am also English, in than I'm from England not Scotland, Ireland or Wales :)
