Who would you save?

so i was reading this article about how a woman asks her husband "who would you throw out of a sinking hot air balloon to enable the other passengers to survive - me or the kids?"

basically i want to ask you guys the same question. say you've been with the love of your life for 20 years+ and you have a child or children, you could only save one - who would it be?
please vote in the poll i'm interested to see the female vs male differences :)

i guess everything depends on the situation etc but if you could only save one....
i guess i should have put a "i wouldn't save any" option :P

cause that aint the question :P and i think a lot of people would choose that option.

also interesting cause from what i've read on other forums so far men have said wife ("can always have more kids" o.o) & women choose the children.
then there are some men saying "the kids as my wife wouldn't forgive me for not saving them"

i'd probably save my kids then kill myself lol :( and hope the kids are brought up well :/
kids are more vulnerable while an adult is more likely to save themselves so i dunno.. id probably go for kids but really couldn't say unless i was in the situation..

Save my kids because they've got an entire life ahead of them. I wouldn't say my wife's life is completely invalid because that's untrue, but the kids have a future to look forward to so I'd guess I'd chuck my wife out?

I don't like this question :( Makes me seem horrid lol. Ofc, if I had the option to chuck myself out I would but that's not the main issue xD.

Awful situation to be in. Hard to say unless you experience it but I think I would save my kids and I would expect my husband to do the same and pick them over me.

just to add to my previous post, i'd be vex if my partner EXPECTS me to kill myself (like, not even offering herself even if it's empty suggestion). automatically suggests that because i'm a man, i MUST take on the burden; which i don't exactly have a massive problem with (i am HE-MAN!!!), but heffas can't be arguing for more equal rights with men and that they should be treated more fairly, but then being like "i'm a woman, i need to be there for the children, you're the man, you go die! *cries*".

I put the save my kids one but I was tempted to put save my partner instead just as I over thought it and wondered if the children were young say 4 or something and we had no other family (say I died too) then I wouldn't want them to be put in care as I don't think it would be the best for them. Then again, if my partner was really old then I feel that the children could benefit more if they survived, it would really depend on the age of the children and who would look after them after!

My kids because if I gave birth to them I wouldn't want to have gone through all that pain just for them to go and die

it depends how old I/my partner/my kids are.

If I and my wife were quite young and had a very young child I'd probably throw my child to save myself and my partner...

Whereas if we were older and had obviously lived a to a fair age I'd sacrifice myself/my partner for the kids.

Well honestly I don't think the children would like me throwing my wife over and unless discussed previously I'm sure the wife would be fairly started if I started hopping the kids out of the balloon!

I'd probably save the kids but I guess I'm obliged to say that when I'm a Childcare Worker lol
