View Full Version : Adding people younger than you online

I never really thought about how bad it looks. When I was at habboxlive I obviously had to add everyone to connect and disconnect from the radio. I remember channel 4 pointed out something along the lines of older users having younger users on skype / msn. The majority of the time when I'm online I don't look at peoples ages lol so I don't really have a problem with adding whoever i speak to online. There is obviously a line, some girl added me on msn to get help with sam broadcaster and she was like 'WHAT AGE R U' so I replied with '20' and shes like 'I'M HALF OF THAT ;)' I was like ****....... 'er brb dinner' *blocks*. Anyways the majority of the younger generation on here are more mature than me so i don't think it really is a problem.

Do you have a problem adding people on msn / skype based on their age?

No, I have no problem with it :P If they're like 8 (for some reason?) then I suppose I'd be more careful about what I said to them in a conversation but I don't see any harm in it aha. The limit for me would be webcam - I wouldn't go on cam to an 8/9/10/11/12 year old (or younger :L) just in case anyone assumes I'm a pedo xD.

I don't tend to go on webcam in general but it's still weird adding people that young and from the medias point of view you can understand why they may be concerned that a 20 year old may be adding a 12/13 year old on msn :P

I know it sounds bad and I'm not trying to offend anyone but I wouldn't speak to a 12 yr old irl and some of the stuff I said online is bad lol I just forget that some people are actually 12.

Oh and by 12 I refer to everyone under the age of 16. Everyone knows anyone younger than 16 is 12. I'm 11? no you're 12..

No but saying that I didn't know, I had someon on msn since they were 6/7 and I always thought they were like 15 I've been on webcam with him once lol but stoll didn't know. Idm if they're younger though.

I never really ask ages of people that I speak to and sometimes I just assume that they're older. It's weird and I wouldn't get close to someone so young but I don't have a problem with casually chatting to them.

Obviously having a 10 year old on msn would be weird for me unless I knew them personally from family etc. I never add anyone off habbo on msn and the majority of habbox users are mature so I don't have a problem with that. i barely go on webcam to people either

I'm yet to rape the younger people than me on my Skype and MSN. So far so good, I've not touched a single one! But what if it's inevitable I will? :O

I have literally no problem, however old they are. I usually don't even ask how old someone is. OFC older people are generally more mature, but it really doesn't matter to me :)

I dont have a problem with it really, obviously if they are younger I don't talk to them as I would a person of a similar age but I don't really care about age on a friends front

i forget age completely online, i just see the good and the bad qualities about someone, and then chose to be their friend, never really think about age and never had a problem with age. the more i think of it, i'm friends with people that are older than me, i think they're more mature and easier to talk to. however, i wouldn't mind having friends younger than me, but there's just not that many people younger than me so :(

As far as I know I've never added anyone under the age of 14, however age doesn't really bother me and I'm happy to talk to anyone.

Inseriousity.

Never bothered me. Being 20 on a Habbo fansite means that the vast majority are younger than me and some of them really young but I don't see a problem with it because it's not like you're going to actually be a pedo. I mostly talk to people around my age group though because there are things we can talk about that someone younger wouldn't be able to relate to (uni, college, exams for example) as they haven't gone through that yet.

The youngest person i've got on msn is my girlfriends sister, shes 13/14 i think, but yano i know her personally so its not awkward for me, if someone adds me that I dont know I simply decline, and nobody who i dont want to have my email has it, and my skype I only use to talk to habbox people so yano, nothing awkward for me at all

age doesn't bother me at all as i'm still quite young myself. i'm sixteen years old and i find that most of the people i add on msn/skype are either a couple of years older or a couple of years younger; it's never anything more. i would probably be a little careful of adding someone who was like ten years old or something though, i can imagine their parents checking up on them 24/7.

age doesn't bother me, it's not like i'm gonna be doing naughty stuff on cam or talking about sexual stuff to younger people lol. not that i'd do that to anyone of any age of course :shifty: if i get along with someone and have good conversation with them then i'm not gonna block/delete them just because of their age. i even forget some of the people i talk to are younger and i should tone down my language (sorry Kardashian; but i just cant resist my lady hormones over kpop idols :() but most people i talk to are around my age or older anyway.

but really when i think of it i'm older than most people so i can see why there are concerns but there's really no need to worry cause at times i feel like i'm still 15...

um i know a lot of people feel weird when they talk to me (lol Blinger; never seems to let it go) and obv it's understandable but after a bit i think everyone forgets, well they don't bring it up to me anyway. clearly since i'm so young the majority of people i talk to are older. now that i think of it most of the people i like/talk to now are 16+ and the oldest person i speak to is probably 22 on here (lol not obvious who it is or anything) but yeah, it doesn't get much younger than me so obv i can't give my opinion on it

Apart from one person, everyone I regularly speak to on skype is older than me.

Because I feel like a friggen cradle snatcher - even though I have no attachment (for a lack of better word) to you.
The only person I honestly talk to a lot, and enjoy talking to mostly is Shaz. She has to be the youngest person. AS she said I find it weird though, it feels ... strange, no idea why, no idea how to describe it, it's just not normal? I have trouble thinking of what to talk to you about apart from our extremely overused topics (you know which ones :P).

Lmao I'm trying to stop talking about the common topics as much because you state it does annoy you:( but yeah when things happen the first thing irl I want to do is vent to someone as soon as it happens and you just happen to be the one I trust enough online!!!

I used to have people under the age of 16 but nowadays I don't really speak to many people online and the people I do have are mainly 18+

Usually with me it's the other way around and I found myself with way older people, but it has happened to me getting friendly with people and then finding out they are younger after having their msn/skype. It makes no difference as long as they aren't that much younger or if they are, at least they need some maturity, because if I talk to them in the first palce, they need to have some :P

Not annoying I just dunno what to write when you keep talking about it. I've shared my opinions many a times and you don't listen so I give up :P.
While typing this up I managed to understand the last part to this post so it makes sense to me all now! ALTHOUGH YOU ONLY EVER MESSAGE ME AFTER 5PM, WHICH HAPPENS TO BE JUST BEFORE MY SLEEPY TIME |-)
Thanksfor the trust though! I think I message you with "personal" **** sometimes too :)
