We need your ideas! Basically we've been thinking on how we could improve the user system on Habbox.com in Version 7. As at the moment the user system on the current Habbox site is pretty pointless apart from if you are staff member who needs to use the site to do their role. So if you have any serious suggestions/ideas that could be used for Habbox and would be great features to give to users who have accounts on the main site then post below. If the ideas are possible and sound great then they will most likely be used in V7.

While we can get your ideas about what you want to see in the next version of Habbox we just want to concentrate on peoples suggestions that they have for the user system for the site at this moment in time.

So all you have to do is post them in this thread!

what about be the point though, there would be a link in the nav bar (I imagine) to take you to the full forum..
Linking the accounts would be good though , I heard jin was supposed to do that but never?

I've actually mentioned a joint-account system to Recursion. The issue is that then Habbox.com has to keep up with VB updates and undoing it down the line could be problematic. Further, security becomes a MASSIVE issue as soon as you have them both running off the same MySQL database and I would be suspect of any merged system.

Most of all it just isn't really needed.

Edit: Of all features I just want page navigation to work efficiently, the current page loader is terrible.

Right, I've already told you these on Skype when you asked, but here we go:

Firstly, profiles which were planned for V6, to finally be released to the public in V7! ;) with profiles the following could come:

- Something like Facebook like 'post a status' and the ability to like, comment and perhaps unlike?
- Private messaging (as well of on the forum)
- Maybe some sort of points system. So if you win something at an event or on HxL you can also have the option of getting points or something like that. Then you collect points and eventually you will get enough to obtain things like coloured usernames on Habbox (not the forum).

Yeah, that's what I've said so far to you quite a while back. I'll think of some more things.

Links between hxf profiles and hx.com profiles, and make the latter actually activated so users can have their habbox hompages!

I believe Recursion; will be working with the caching. We can certainly have different banners for different sections of the site.

What Chippie says. The amount of active accounts on Habbox Forum far outweighs the active accounts on Habbox.com (as we could tell by who ran through the forced password reset recently) and I wouldn't be willing to risk the security implications of users who didn't even use the site... also the site's user system will be heavily based off your Habbo name, so it doesn't really work if your forum name is different to that of your Habbo's.

There are a number of methods that would allow SSO between HxF and the site that would not involve any additional security implications as all the authentication would be still provided by HxF. You could either come up with your own system or use existing standards. Could be really quite simple as well, just off the top of my head something like this could work:

- Habbox.com redirects to HxF.
- User is either logged in on HxF or is prompted to login
- HxF generates a message containing username and other relevent details along with a timestamp
- HxF generated a HMAC of the message using a private key
- HxF returns the user with the message + signature to Habbox.com
- Habbox.com checks timestamp is within a certain time and validates the signature of the message using the private key

You could add additional security by including the IP + User agent of whoever successfully completed the authentication on HxF with the message.

Pretty sure that's what the option of getting rep for winning is :P

Also I would be against linking Hx accounts with HxF accounts, I know we're generally pretty safe but the main site is compromised more than the forum to my memory and I think it'd be better to have problems with a few site accounts that can't really do a lot than coming up 60k forum account with which one could cause some very public problems

You can avoid the risk of forum accounts getting compromised if you use a system like I outlined above. Basically all it does is send people to HxF and than the forum replies with:

This person is the user: Whatever

- Signed HxF

and the site can verify it was actually signed by the forum. The site would never get any access to any login details or any information that is not sent in the message from the forum. They could compromise the site all the like and they won't get access to login details.

Habbox Marketplace (what ever happened to that, it was meant to be in V6 haha, david did start working on it cos he showed it to me half done)

Basically just free listing of furni you have for sale, or a wanted section for furni they want. Maybe make it a little like eBay where people bid? i know you could say that people may just bid like 100C for something silly and then not pay, but you could have a moderated feedback system so that if people do that they get negative feedback and if their feedback score goes under a certain percentage they can no longer bid for so long or something. And if someone drops out of a buy the seller could offer a second chance offer.

Hmmm i dunno how to work it really, alot of things could go wrong with it but i think it would be a nice idea to add.


Maybe you could add some kind of currency thing. Like users can get Habbox credits through winning events on Habbo (or even playing games on Habbox (this would mean making Habbox Games ;))) I have no idea what you could use the credits for but i'm sure you could think of something.


You could have like a 'Whats on your mind' box or something, basically a bit like a status update or a minature twitter feed where people can write what they are thinking and random ones should up on the site. Like '-Danube- says: I like this new furni' and it would should up on the main page on a widget somewhere and people can the write a comment to start a little discussion. Again this would need moderation too. I don't think anything too twitter of facebook based should be added to the site but it would be nice for people to write there own things to start some discussion on there.

At least a poll puts names to users and since that isn't built into V6 we was unable to do that. So yes what a good feature to request.

Easier registration. It's a bit of a faff on. Can have the best features in the world (although I agree that right now hx doesn't offer anything unique to make people want to go there!) but the verification system for registering is rather tedious!

I'll also add a +1 to hx marketplace. best thing mentioned in v6 discussions!

Well that's a good idea ;) the question is how would you know who's selling it ??? Is there going to be a 1 coin tax to post it and finally we will get people abusing it..... E.g clubhabbo users might come and sell there furni here and it could get over crowed ;) but its a great idea but just needs more adding ;)

How we could improve that idea: To make sure it doesn't get over crowed we use 2 catalouges, one current catalouge (one used in the hotel) and then another one with all the furniture which has been and gone like the throne and petal patch!!! Then you could start entering and of course you would buy the cheapest !!!!
