Well obviously that's Finnish for a start. There aren't any English words you can really use. I imagine that to start with swearing will be blocked. Eventually, they will be using a blacklist system rather than a whitelist. Who knows if they'll add swearing to that blacklist or not :l

Chat becomes less and less restrictive as you become more experienced in the game. I'm assuming it will be like the "Helper tree" where you have to progress through various levels.

It how it stars and then as you prove yourself, you get more words. I don't see why swearing should be blocked, although we shouldn't use it anyway in the presence of young people, but peado's don't usually swear whentryign to groom young children, so swearing isnt really an issue.

Paul says swearing won't be filtered in the end as their aim isn't to teach users manners. I disagree with this however; I'm sure many parents wouldn't be happy to find out their children (by that I don't necessarily mean under the age of 13) were being exposed to some of the language I've encountered on the hotel. Yes, it's nice to give us the freedom, but at the same time, I don't think it should be allowed on a site aimed at and available to users of such a young age.

Parent's say bold words infront of their kids all the time, if they dont wanna see the words thats what the filter option is for lol

He's right though. Habbo isn' there to teach us manners, thats parents jobs. If we wish to express ourselves by way of swearing, and he allows it, why not?

I'll be furious if Habbo eradicates swearing, it's meant to be a site for expression, and removing profanities will prohibit expression for many users.

Even if we can't swear, I won't be mad. I mean sure everyone swears, but swearing isn't necessary. I'll still be on habbo, and I'll just be happy that we'll be able to actually chat/talk again. :)

I don't see how swearing is a big problem on the Hotel, it's more sexual words which they are looking at preventing understandably. Filtering swearing, would just make Habbo more and more similar to Club Penguin and other websites - which isn't the way Habbo should go especially since they have an older demographic.

I think that for a start they should start their experiences in Habbo.com since most members use it. Secondly, if I can manage to have fun around Habbo without being able to chat, use events, trade and stuff, I think I can survive without swearing or saying certain words.

I don't agree with filtering. Even though its a virtual community I still want my first amendment.. :P

Can't help but thinking this whole 'earn the right to swear' is promoting/encouraging the use of foul language lol

I don't think swearing should be allowed tbh, it's not something that a young teen community should have enabled - with or without a filter that's easy to turn off - as I don't think kids should be DELIBERATELY exposed to that language.

As for the chat, yes it's limited at the moment but hopefully they'll expand it soon.

Interesting that some people are getting "furious" that they're not able to swear. You can express yourself just the same regardless of whether you can swear or not, so don't bother using that rather generic argument.. :P
