hiya, coming back to habbox for technology advice as always haha.

i have a pretty solid internet speed (and it's been doubled in the last week or so) my thing on the bottom registers at 65mbps and speedtest usually registers it between 25mb and 40mb. anywhere between. since last week though i've been having really bad trouble with torrents (i use utorrent and idk if we're allowed to say torrent site names on here but ___hunt and tpb) and no matter what the seeder/leacher ratio is i can never seem to get above 100kbps anymore.

now usually (2 weeks or so ago) i would get at minimum 1mbps and at max 5mbps. does anyone know why it could've plumetted at all?

i haven't really downloaded anything within the last 30 days (with an exception of a photoshop portable file at about 250mb), i'm with virgin media, could this to be something to do with the doubling at all?

thanks for all help +rep.

(running the beast that is windows vista.)

OKAY this is a secondary problem but i thought i'd mention it see if anyone had any ideas. ever since i re-installed vista after my laptop stopped working (i made my boot disc, super proud and stuff), tweetdeck will not work for me. i've reinstalled/repaired/deleted all temp files. it constantly tells me there is a network issue.

any help?

+rep again!

VM throttles if you download too much however I doubt that's the case, they might also be cutting down your speeds on continuous downloads although VM don't normally do that, unless it's localised due to connection issues in your area.

If you're downloading small and old files then it's likely that there are no good seeders for that torrent. Generally when a new torrent for a tv show etc. comes out you have a lot of people with decent connections seeding. It may not be the case with these.

Is it doing it at night too? Most ISPs will throttle peer to peer during the day.

yeah, tried for hours between 11pm-2am to get a how i met yr mother torrent to work (tried about 30) and no success. i found earlier this afternoon i managed to download a 120mb album at 3.5mbps but i'm currently trying to download 2gbs of how i met yr mother (i know, i know haha) and it'll go at about 400kbps for about 5 minutes and then drop back to 9.5kbps and very rarely goes above it.

i just screenied the speed thing if that's any help at all ha:

Could it need a port forwarded? I use Bitcomet and if you don't have a port forwarded exclusively for it on your router the speeds can be lower than they should.

Have you accidentally put a download rate limit on utorrent?

Also, go to preferences > connection and tick all 4 boxes under listening port.
