There's been people saying they're quitting Habbo after the mute or during the mute :L I Cant argue with them
Habbo wont be the same all we will be seeing is the little lock icon :( What do you think about the new safety
chat.

If the new safety chat means everyone has to have a filter regardless as to whether they want one, then I think many people would be put off of Habbo but I'm sure people would work their way around it, I know I'll try. The new safety stuff seems a little OTT but we'll just have to wait and see. I wouldn't be surprised if a few people quit but then again, there's plenty of new people that'd replace them. :P

If everyone is forced into this ridiculously strict filter (although someone did say that older users or w.e would be able to get out of it) then I imagine many wouldn't stick around for long - me included lol.
McDonalds; Thanks!!! I can be "replaced" :'(

I thought It was confirmed you can earn the talent or whatever to get out of the safety chat?

I didn't think it was a talent thing? If it followed the Helper talent then you'd have to become a habbo helper to come out of chat lol.

Oh, they're adding more talents aren't they oops.

Depending on how strict the chat is and how much work I need to do to get it less strict will judge if I leave or not to be honest. Most likely won't and will come back every now and then but yeah. :P

This isn't news or rumours lol, but yes people have and will quit.

Well i completed all the helper talents, do we get anything out of it? or did i waste my time ... :L
I'm glad we can earn our way out of the safety lock thing though.

I didn't mean the Habbo Helper thing, It would probably be an achievement or something. As I'm pretty sure Paul tweeted you can earn your way out of it...

Oh, hmm ok lol. I'm genuinely curious what we'll have to do to get out of it now :P

We will have to complete a quiz thing. The new badge "for passing the safety quiz" has been introduced and once we complete that, then im assuming thats the quiz that allows us to speak again, Not 100% sure how we can bypass the filter thingy though

on habbo.nl its just 5 questions to get it back as far as i can tell

I liked it when they had the option for you to remove the filter, now they're going in the completely different direction. I will most likely quit if it's fully ****. I mostly talk in slang, swear regularly, spell things incorrectly so I'll just be one big padlock, theres no point. I think casinos will be ruined too.

Let's hope thats the same for .com I reckon they'll make it more complicated seeing as we were the ones in the news report.

Here we go:

@kevkevinkevkev asked about the whitelist. We make it so new players use whitelist to learn Habbo way then you earn to filtered only like b4

I don't think Paul has understood the issue that has been raised. Channel 4 have reported that there is an abundance of paedophiles who engage in pornographic chat with young people - a new chat system does NOT address the issue. People will simply answer the five questions and continue like before. Habbo need to concentrate on the process of moderators getting involved to manually stop harmful chat. Educating people through having them "earn" the right (earn? for goodness sake, it's a game!) to speak is a flawed method... and I'm surprised they think it will do anything.

It would take a miracle to stop the issue completely, so therefore this is HABBO'S problem for not stamping down on the behaviour. Paul is making it seem like it's primarily the users' problem!

It's also an industry problem but yeah.

Aye loads of people have quit.. or stopped playing. but once chat is back no doubt people will come back.. then go again cos it will be as strict as clubpenguin imo.

It depends how serious the speech filter is but most people are fine to wait.

Well I don't play much anyway but the new chat would put me off completely. I want to be able to chat freely without having an over the top filter turned on. I'm sure people have and will quit, but new players are coming in all the time.

I won't leave Habbo but I not on half as much, even less because of the mute. Habbo is pointless when you can't talk

Yeah heaps of people will quit, depending on the new chat/filters and safety features I may quit. I don't want to be filtered for everything I say thats just complete **. All of this because some reporter had shown the bad side of habbo, great... death threats on her plz ;)

People will probably quit, just like they did when other features were removed/edited. Oh well....

I think people that have tonnes of furni and take Habbo seriously will stay. People that go on it casually will probably go elsewhere, and probably already have.

Habbo will probably go back to how it was in a month or so, just once C4 stops bothering them. It'll probably happen all over again but I don't really Habbo so much anymore anyway so it doesn't bother me :)

Yeah but people will still be watching. I was just using C4 as a general term, not just people from C4 :P And Habbo could still be worried about other investors dropping if they don't pull their act together?

i think it is impossible to actually filter chat on a social game like habbo...thank God ive already quit, itll never be the same anymore anyways

Don't think enough people will leave for there to be a noticeable difference. However, I think it'll take a few weeks or so after we're unmuted before the Hotel population gets back up to speed.

i haven't quit (yet) but the mute has made me stop going on, up until yesterday i hadn't logged on for about 5 days which is really weird for me hahaha. i suppose i'll start going on more again once it's over but if the safety chat is really bad then i don't know.

Nice to see someone hitting the nail on the head there!
If staff continue to ignore this behaviour on Habbo through the inaction they've displayed over the past few years then absolutely nothing will have changed. It's a change in how they deal with the problem that is the most important thing.

I'd focus on these aspects if I were them.
- 'Strip clubs' and rooms dedicated to sexual behaviour need to be immediately closed and users need to be told outright that this is unacceptable.
- Users soliciting MSN/Skype for sex need to be banned permanently and prevented from making alternate accounts so it cannot continue.
- Regular and new users need a complete change of attitude and need to immediately report sexual behaviour, this would be achieved through confidence in moderation (read on).
- Most importantly, user trust in moderators needs to be improved drastically. Users have not reported people because they have no confidence in the moderation on Habbo and assume no action will be taken. I've been in this situation myself. I've reported 5 users in a row attempted to solicit 'cam sex' and had no action taken against them. When another user comes in I've not reported them because I 'knew' nothing would happen. Moderators need to be visible and visibly taking action on the hotel, not just hidden in rooms or sending alert messages. Their avatars need to be seen otherwise users assume they are not there. That said, moderation also needs to improve on the whole too.

Don't get me wrong, there's more problems that should be addressed but dealing with these four points should go some way to improving the hotel overall.

More ontopic: I hope people DO leave if things don't improve. They might get the message then!

The filter won't be applied to accounts for long. Paul has said today once users have passed the quiz and spent a certain amount of time with the whitelist filter, they will come out of that and into the blacklist filter. I can't see why that would give people reason to quit. All they need to do is stick around for a while and then they'll effectively have everything back to how it was (but with better moderation).

the mute is annoying and making habbo quite boring but i wouldn't quit because of it because it obviously won't stay like that forever and the mute will go and i don't think enough people will quit for it to be noticeable

In case you hadn't realise, Sulake isn't actually trying to fix the problem, this is just a show.

I don't go on as much at all and if the strict filter is enforced for a long time I doubt I'll go on at all, I wouldn't be able to cope with it. Most of the time I feel too old for Habbo anyway, I think people are actually forgetting it's a game targeted at KIDS.

I'm not quitting at all. I am staying with Habbo.

I think the fact the mute is taking so long is ridiculous. Habbo.com should be the first site to change since it's the site most members use. I didn't have internet for almost a week, and I was thinking that when I came back, things might be changed already, but nothing at all. It's frustrating not being able to say anything and it's taking way way too long.

I've only really just started playing again, and then had this after a few weeks so I don't think I'll quit anytime soon, but obviously it's understandable and predictable that many will quit. It just depends on why you play Habbo and what you may be leaving behind.
