View Full Version : Why does music on the radio sound much more enjoyable?

I'm not sure if this is just me but music on the radio always sounds much more enjoyable for some reason.

Does anyone else relate to this? I always listen to Kiss FM as well and they always speed up their music, change the tempo and play some really good remixes and I just can't match that when I listen to Spotify.

Random but you know. Ideas?

I know whatcha mean. I think it might also be something to do with the variety that they play.

Yeah I agree with Chris, I think with Spotify and such you know what's coming up next, and next, etc. whereas others you don't. The variety is good too plus you may just love adverts so it sounds better lmao!

I don't usually listen to the radio unless I'm in the car and my parents have put the radio on too loud that I can't hear my own music, but I do like it when I occasionally get a song played that I really like whereas if it was just my own music then it'd all be stuff I like and nothing else in between. :P

Basically what Sam said, you don't know what's coming up next and so it's always nice to be surprised. Plus they can introduce you to new music or songs that you have never heard of before :P

I guess its cos it isn't us choosing the music, we get what we get. When you listen to your own music you are always busy changing it and thinking do i want to listen to something else? :P Idk i guess that could be just me xD

Personally it's because there is different types of music on the radio and you don't know what's coming up. I also think it's because the DJ's/Radio speakers break up from on going music which is rather enjoyable to what they come up and say.

It's just more climatic when a song you like comes on. Which for me doesn't seem to be that often which is why I don't listen to the radio lol, so it's even more exciting when a song I do like is played.

I'm more likely to give songs a chance when they're on the radio.. :P
If I'm sat at home, and someone suggests a song for me to listen to, it usually gets 20 seconds of playtime, then it's off, and I just judge it on that,
But on the radio, I'll probably listen to the whole song, and probably likely to enjoy it.. :P
So, I guess you're right in some ways :P

LOL! I sometimes listen to Kiss FM and sorry to say but it's ridiculous.

In Portuguese radios the song I like to listen the most too is probably We are Young :D

It depends on the situation. If you are for example out on a night out dancing to music having a good time with friends, a few drinks etc. your going to enjoy a song more than you would if you where just sat at home listening to it

I think it's because the next track is unexpected. Listening to an ipod on shuffle is boring because you put all those songs on it, everything is expected and it's also the thought that other people are listening to the same 'playlist' as you. It's a bit like soundrop, you and your friends could easily listen to the same song but it's better if it's in sync and being played to everyone at once.

I don't really listen to local radios as most of them just turn into big chat shows, which just makes it boring :P

i very rarely listen to the radio so i can't really say. but i find that when i watch music videos along with the music it seems a lot more enjoyable, it adds effect and gives you a better understanding of the artist and the song itself.

This!

And what others have said it's unexpected. It's best when you're on a night out and your fav song comes on, ah so exciting.

I enjoy listening to the radio :) I think it's because it introduces me to new music and I feel that I'm keeping up with what everyone else is listening to - whether it's music that I like or not

To me at least with my local radio CFM it feels too mainstream. I've listened to it a few times but there's hardly any interaction and most of the music is either main mainstream music or old music. It feels like there isn't anything for the young generation, students etc thus why I wanted to create a local student radio.

But I rarely listen to radio unless I'm in a car or something
