Confusion over Law A level

On tuesday, there was a careers day at my college and I spoke to this woman about doing law in university. She advised out of my 4 subjects (law, politics, computing & maths) that I should drop law. Asking why, she said because law at university is a "history course". However I was just thinking about it and realised how little sense that actually made. So can someone explain to me why law at A level is not a good idea if I want to do it at university?

I think taking law at A Level gets you into bad habbits on how to go about writing essays and papers etc. I read somewhere that at uni they prefer other subjects over Law even when applying for Law at university! The way you go about Law in uni is completely different to how it is at A level and the assignments you will have to write will be structured like how history essays are.

If I was you I'd take a science for my 4th option 'cause if you're taking maths you're probably very smart and unis love it! But don't drop Law just because of the reasons above, do it because you want to, unis wont decline you for it, if you want to do it, do it!

Lol was she from a university or a careers advisor cos careers advisors are pretty rubbish. It doesn't really make sense. Even if what she said is true, surely the best one to drop then would be the more mathematical subject like computing or maths. Surely a law A level is also a "history course" in some sense. Law courses are very competitive so any extra knowledge I'd call a plus!

I've been told this as well. I wouldn't worry though, there are plenty of people who do law at A level and go on to do it as uni.
