The 'lead by example' ethos is something I plan to bring to at the very least community departments. Forcing it on departments won't really work, there needs to be an attitude change before it can be successful. Some people view management as leading those who do the work so you can focus on the admin side. I see management as more responsibility while still doing the same job you were before. There are other benefits and less "normal staff" work should not be one of them.
However, I do not feel it is very fair to name and shame those you feel are not up to the job when you do not know the circumstances. "Reduced activity" is not a new term for Habbox and lots of people have used it over the years. Structures are not fixed and are open to interpretation by different department managers using their discretion (for example, my re-hiring policy as competitions manager was different to other departments). Each department is different and has its own set of needs that managers try their best to accomodate. The circumstances remain solely private between management and the staff member. By all means, attack the policy and the structure because sometimes these structures are open to abuse and therefore can be improved. I think when you get to management, part of the responsibility involved is allowing yourself to be open to relentless criticism (both constructive and not very constructive at all). Anyone below management does not deserve it so I would urge everyone please to keep the finger-pointing in check.

I don't believe that managers are any better than say a normal staff member, a senior one or a head, although some may get more perks and such than others we're all members on a fansite untimately.
Also OllzIsTasty; there are loads of trialists on the staff list, if you get anymore you will need to open a new department just to cater for those. I want to hear the djs we have not the ones that might come in the future - it's about now!

I haven't had the chance to DJ as much as I've wanted to, because of certain problems I've been having to deal with for a little bit, but this doesn't necessarily mean that I'm not keeping up with other things throughout the department. Just recently I've gotten better news, on how I'll be able to DJ a lot more now, but as I said..I have been keeping up with other duties when it comes to Head DJs. I have noticed myself that I haven't DJ'ed in a while, which is exactly why changes were recently done, and I should be able to DJ/stream more now. You haven't had the chance to DJ, but yet you're on skype, msn, and habbo all day long? Seems legit to me. Now i can't say a whole lot because i haven't been around much lately but from what i remember before i resigned Senior Position you hardly came on, and you only really DJ'd when major habboxlive events happened such as the vault and anything similar. Yeah you do admining and all those little bits and pieces, but beings that you are a head DJ i think you really need to be a role model to the ones that look up to you. If you don't have the time, maybe you should really consider stepping down and giving somebody a chance that is truly active, that's what i did and then i just quit overall.

Solution:
Make me manager of HabboxLive. :D
HxL desperately needs a new site, I mean c'mon. How would you apply to be a DJ? I imagine it to be a laugh.
--EDIT--
On that note I'm happy to design & code a new version for HxL for free along as I could put "Coded by Qzaki" on it. If you're interested throw me a PM :)

Ah fair enough. Never did see the point in two sites tbh.
On the subject of inactive DJs. When myself and my buddy Bolt660; managed news, we were smart fellas and saw that if people were on the forum all day long and Habbo etc. etc. yet were on "reduced activity" and posted as away, we would still warn them and it just takes the piss. Although some would argue, sometimes people need a 'break' from DJing. I would have to disagree, unless it has exceptional circumstanced. Your in the department to do a job and if you need a break from the job, it's clear you're not enjoying the job.
Kyle as a note to you mentionig me in the first post of this thread I djed ALL the time whenever I could then my laptop broke and was in repair for 2 weeks. Djing got boring for me having to DJ when nobody else wanted to which was a lot of the time, hence why I resigned. Having a timetable like that isn't enjoyable.

I would of returned back to habboxlive with a perm show however 3 hours a week for me is too much. Since Logan is not interested in cutting down the minimum hours, I am going elsewhere where there is better freedom and more flexable hours.

Really though someone could be on the forum all day long but can't actually go on Habbox site itself? Due to them being on their phone and relying on wireless internet but as FiftyCal; said if someone is on Habbo and Skype all day long then frankly they can DJ as that what it entails - talking and stuff. As a head you should really do the minimum required and then some no matter which way you put it, it does look like favouring other DJs take place which is a shame really as you're a team.

In terms of me being on skype,Msn & the forum a lot..Is due to as said above me being on my phone..For a bit now Ive had to change living terms..With moving in with a new parent and such..& It really was a lot of work..I've just recently as I said got more settled in,& got a computer..So as I said I should be DJing back to normal, even myself I've realized my recent activty in terms of slots and DJing

Why is the Dj streaming now,
When 2 DJ's have been on previously, and are obviously available, / willing to DJ because someone else was going to book it..?

That happens a lot these days. What I don't understand is why someone would pre-book a slot if they have no intention of doing an actual show.

I agree, it's just a waste.
Streaming should be last minute things if no one else is available,
When there blatantly is.
Samantha

If they've pre booked they shouldn't stream however they may think it's fine as many are still in school at thid time?
pre booking a slot is fine if you plan to talk, but if you don't then give it until the last minute to see if anybody else would actually like to. If I want to listen to music then I'll listen to my own... I tune in to listen to the presenter.

One of the complaints or suggestions that was sent via Twitter was that it was advertised these are "famous" youtubers. Although that may or may not be the case for some people, nearly all of the ones that came onto Habbox tonight have a good amount of subscribers. It doesn't matter if you don't class them as famous or not, hey - I didn't know most of them but I still enjoyed the show and it still brought 160 people to the radio. YouTube has many many people and to anyone who was tuned in they could now start watching them and enjoy the videos the produce.
It doesn't matter if they haven't made a video for a couple of weeks, they came onto Habbox and it was a good show all around.
Big kudos to Maatt.; for spending time and organising all of this. It was a great show even though you did have some mic problems. I enjoyed listening to it all. Well Done.
The only problem I've had with it is what happened afterwards but that's nothing to do with the show or Matt himself.

Completely agree, I know of absolutely no "famous" YouTubers or like... let's say Tumblr blogs as another example but I checked them out on YouTube and some of them are brilliant and when the amount of listeners rose from 80 - 160... brilliant xD. Can't believe how long Matt spent organising this, but it was certainly worth it aha.

xxMATTGxx; is right. I mean, let's be honest - even if we attempted to get the more 'famous' YouTubers they would most likely decline due to them just coming back from vidcon or whatever it is and other things or they'd be sat planning for their future videos as that's their job. They wouldn't get paid for coming on some fan site of a game on the internet?

The only one to take on the listeners even though they were going to plummet! Na but in all seriousness the after hours really should have been planned prior to the show. With all the planning and preparation Matt put in, so should have radio management. I don't like slating my superiors but its the truth. We aren't going to get anywhere if djs refuse to dj when we have a high listener count.

Pretty much agree, was quite disappointed that no one was willing to actually book the slot after Matt to keep the radio online. It's a shame because the show was quite good and even though the listeners were going to drop we would still have a good amount who would remain tuned in.

Thank you for the feedback! more shows soon!
The vidcon show (which I missed and was never recorded - boo!) appears to have to prove the point that the gaining of listeners is not so much of a problem as their retention. Fair enough listeners are bound to drop when a bunch of 'famous' people go off air but it doesn't appear to me as though there was any plan to actually keep those listeners tuned in.
These sort of shows should serve to bring new listeners (and potential forum members, if you're clever about it) to habbox. I applaud Maatt.; for spending so long organising it but am disappointed that the radio management (and most of the radio staff) didn't appear to plan anything leading up to or following the show itself. It's all well and good to say "Oh, well we reached over 160 listeners" but when 3/4 of those listeners bugger off after the hour is up then someone isn't doing their job properly.
Sorry, I don't have any suggestions this time for listener retention as I'm not as experienced as some in radio, but I would suggest that you take a look at it at least.

Listener retention indeed is that. We should have 2 more big things coming up shortly, which I'm about to sort out. Retention would probably mean do some bigger shows throughout the day, but you got to remember that these people came from off-client, so Habbo based things would be a no-no. If we did some game shows, with live call ins or something like that, more real life based, then it may have worked.
I just plan to bombard people with lots of interesting events, so that there's always something happening. Never before have we had to do this at such regular intervals. Before management could just sit there for periods of time and the listeners would stay. That's on issue of quality. I want more professional and interesting people coming into HxL. I've even argued with Logan over some people in the server trials because they simply weren't good enough and I wanted to reverse the trend and image of hiring DJs who were a bit all over the place and had to have major training. Although I do keep a hawkish eye out for anyone who may not have lots of experience but may become super.
Of course, I can take the ThisHabbo route out and just base my listener base on giveaways and we would gain stuff. But, we want people to enjoy the radio as well and that's why we often had more than them during the mute when no events were taking place. Base the listeners on quality, and that is why we need to phase in experienced or maybe young DJs who are using the ropes pretty well. I will do some classic giveaways just to perk interest within the coming week. BUT, I will not use them to base a whole radio and listener base, for that does not justify anything. In fact, that's simply like the government giving out money to please a public, which is discontent. It's a weak policy!
the ship is sinking, has been for a very long time and i'm not sure really why there is a continued revival when this thread happens every 6 week. surely you could save the money and use it to improve other habbox services (idk how the forum is nowadays not really on here long enough to get an opinion of the server).
had a read through the thread (habboxlive interests me haha), i was offered a guest dj position (fanx) but didn't take it because i felt having someone who obviously has no interest in habbox and just fancies popping on air to play music and have personal jokes on air would not be good for habbox. dunno why there's so many guest dj's at all, seems silly.
kristina, yr a lovely girl, but you should not be a head dj. you've been inactive since january and as much as i realise you have difficult personal circumstances it isn't fair and it was never fair on people who work hard on the radio. FiftyCal; should've been head dj a long time ago.
this youtube show seems like it was a success, i dunno why if habboxlive is to continue (though i hardly see the point) you stop being a 24 hour service and do special shows to tie in with forum events or with habbox.com or just big shows. people are more likely to tune in if it's special and one off rather than 23 hours of wasted streaming in a day.

I agree on the 23 hours a day of streaming. Although, that is obviously a massive over-exaggeration, I'd rather build a large listener base with quality, rather than quantity.

You may want to get listeners from quality, but when a listener comes back 'cause they've stayed for quality and see the radio is offline will they stay? You need to focus on building on both.
