Wouldn't you need the condition furni has users on to close it and when it doesn't have users on you can change state so peoplr can go in? I could be wrong, I probably am lmao.

This is very simple.
There aren't wired furniture to do it, but there's always a way...
Get a mat to repeat itself to move left every second or so, and if it reaches a tile the gate opens. But using the condition user has furni, in which the booster is there, repeat the effect of matching the mat way back to the start every 0.5 seconds. Using the condition that the the tile has furni (aka the mat) set it to repeat effect - open gate. Where as when the boost bit with user has furni, make it to repeat effect close gate.
So simple. Sorry if I didn't explain well, but this is really the only way to do it.

Or even if it's a banzai booster, 2 banzais teleporting you. You can make it every time the user steps on the banzai, it resets the object back before it reaches the other object in which closes the gate. Of course, you could hide these things with a stack covering up your wired work and the stuff.
It doesn't necessarily need to be a mat and a tile for it to go on, you can think of your own ways, I'm sure. But that's just a way to do it in the same way.

pretty much, explained it to him, but having to pay 30-40c per gate didn't appeal to him :D
