just asked paul on twitter if the patrol is the BETA program for the guardians, to find out who is doing the most and then setting them as the first guardians then the time comes.
he replied with " three weeks, going to be great!"

what do you think about this? do you think this is fair?

Habbo Patrol is to get people reporting users more often, that's all. Reporting x amount of users will probably be a requirement.

If it is, then no it's not fair. People have been following the talent track to get somewhere like guardians (even though that was still a fractured system because there's no age restrictions or w.e) and to just suddenly decide "-gives out link on twitter to a room in which 1000s entered to get a badge and then rage report people" is a better system to earning a guardian status is a bloody joke lol.

That goes against what the HRedAlert account said, that they weren't monitoring individual's performances.
The scheme is idiotic. Encouraging users to report serious rule breakers is great; encouraging them to report every minor incident is not. Already seen twitter abuzz with staff suckups (the usual suspects...) spamming paul and the Red Alert account twitter with support tickets because they've heard that it gives them a better chance to effectively win a badge.

ive reported quite a lot, only ever serious matters though. ive always reported anyway, not for badges.. its great the community are coming together to help stomp out the content. there are just a few nutters out on habbo taking it like they are staff or something. its really turned half the hotel upside down in that aspect.

Three weeks :S That would mean that it is after this summer event. Not too keen on this scheme anyway.

Give it a rest... You aren't reporting people for a 'safer habbo'... You're reporting loads of people because you expect that you'll get some kind of recognition for it.
I'm all for making habbo safer by tightening up on the language filter but when Paul actively encourages brown nosing (and often rewards it!) then we find ourselves slipping back into old, flawed regime, in which the only players that actually get listened to are those firmly lodged in the butt cracks of the gaffer, who wouldn't even consider having a bad word to say about their (often terrible) ideas.

I reckon this new patrol thing will have something to do with the guardian program; however I bealive there will be much more.
I really hope they dont turn lazy and just make a room for ANYONE to enter and get the guardian badge + powers.

I haven't reported anyone so far... guess I'm not going to be a Guardian :P

i remember when they had a campaign deterring people from reporting unless it was an emergency, surely this is bad news for moderators? countless reports calling people homophobic for saying gay when someone might actually have a serious problem.

What I've unfortunately discovered is this whole patrol thing is a campaign for users to get trigger happy reporting for any old thing i.e. apparently my name was not suitable despite using it for 8 years.
If it is quantity > quality then it is one of those many things that makes me just go on the client every blue moon.

This whole Guardian project looks like a complete waste of time and not actually solving anything... :P
So basically it's a ranking system anyone can go through AND you're picked purely on being a grass and how many reports you can make in an alloted time? It seems more hassle than it is worth, the moderators who have to deal with the plebs of Habbo society trying to become something they shouldn't be is just a strain on their limited resources.
They would do a better job if they just had old, loyal users who have proven to be useful to the hotel - assuming Habbo can prove their worth seeing as how distant they are from their community. Purely self-inflicted and limited sympathy.

There is quite a difference between wanting to help out and wanting to rank up as high as you possibly can in this flawed system. Being a safe user really has sod all to do with it... I know plenty of people who stay safe and will report rule breakers but what this system has done is encourage you and various other well known 'safe habbos' (the ones with 'Here To Help :-)' etc. in their mottos...) to go absolutely mental reporting people to level up.
It's odd that there was no mention of e-fame until your post. When I said you're doing it for recognition I meant - and I think you know I meant it - from Paul and his Sulake cronies. You're one of many who wants to jump into his back pocket and thinks the only way to do so is to prove your worth by spamming the habbo help tool with (probably pointless) requests.

considering that since 2009 until now the mods have done pretty much nothing about anything. I had no choice but to leave things be. now that they have picked up, The system is working properly again. just because everyone else is reporting like crazy, doesn't essentially mean I'm trying to rank up. ever since the eXpert program came about ive been a safe user. so yes my motto is a safety reference, well done. ive seen worse. Ive seen user made like 2 days ago scouting in rooms telling people off for having their words filtered.
the guardian system is not application based. the MODs choose the guardians. that is why im giving it a go and things are being dealt with for once.
and no, not pointless things. if you walk into a room and see someone called "ilovebondage123" its not pointless. that was an example.

Moderation has been lax for years, you have always had the choice whether or not to 'leave things be', you have just chosen to only do something when you have the opportunity to be recognised for it. If you want to report habbo names then gather a list and send them all in one request.
cba to even reply omg

i had the choice, and i did, but nothing was ever done about any concerns within the past 3 years until now. within the space of the three years i left for a while. im not doing it for recognition, nor am i looking for attention from other users. internet safety is important especially when it comes to children. and a list? if i see a bad username, i click them, and i have the option to report it there and then. i do tickets for rooms, groups and moderation issues. don't reply then kyle, you think Im just looking for a badge which is typical. If infact you are suggesting that i am wanting recognition, i guess you could say im wanted to be recognized as a safety rep which i always have been and will always continue to be. its why i opened my helpdesk in 2006, which was run by the X team, moderators and hobbas.
Don't judge what you don't know, kyle.
That arrogance associated with the old programmes has already started to show its ugly face. Pretty annoying how so many innocent people are getting banned too because everyone has gone report happy to make an impression.

I completely agree with you that the safety of children online is of paramount importance but what I don't agree with is the way that it has and is being handled. Encouraging users to wise up about sexual predators is good. So long as they know that there's a report feature there and an emergency exit button then every user should be able to get involved. Involving the community is great, excluding the majority is not.
Perhaps you are sending legit reports, but is it really because you think they're so terrible that they need to be removed (I wouldn't have said inactive rooms or party rooms were offensive or warranted removal ;) ) or is it just because you think the more tickets you send the better chance you have?
Being recognised as a 'safety rep' (:S) will almost certainly include a badge, don't you think? Why do you want to be recognised so bad? If you really were there to help then you would help regardless, not in anticipation of a badge, a tweet from Paul, or whatever. It's great that you run an (albeit desolate?) helpdesk and it's cute that you've got a bunch of likeminded people to assist you with your endeavours...
@Plebings (http://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=59923); once said "I don't mind elitism - so long as I'm part of the elite!". I think this applies very accurately to the behaviour of you and a few others like you. You're so caught up with becoming high up in this programme that you don't seem to realise what an effect it'll have on those that aren't quite so... determined... as you.

what an amazing quote, i'd add something to the discussion but i'm really not that smart.
i'm not taking a part of this scheme because i find it harsh, we shouldn't have to walk around habbo speaking through flowers. i can't imagine being at home reporting people and having a smug sense of self satisfaction because i managed to get someone banned. i haven't been banned since the unmute so i have no reason to be angry, but if moderation is going to become as harsh as it is on this forum i'm not sure how much longer i'll be on this hotel.
