another tweet from paul -
@HabboRed (https://twitter.com/HabboRed) @habbotm (https://twitter.com/habbotm) @HabboRakker (https://twitter.com/HabboRakker) I'm now not happy about the whole concept of room competitions. Whole thing creates unhappiness as I see it

@Alphaet_Habbo (https://twitter.com/Alphaet_Habbo) Well, that's the point. If an event creates a net unhappy outcome then we don't do it any more. Community has spoken. Done. - new tweets, happening live.

Lol people are so picky xD "Bring back competitions". "Omg scrap this competition method now". "Omg no we dont just want comps with badges as prizes" "omg no we dont just want room comps" :P
But yes, admittedly this current system is highly unfair. Speaking of which, Red; link me to your room again so I can like vote for you and then for Astronomist :P
HE SHOULD JUST GET BLOODY HOTEL MANGERS TO DEAL WITH THIS STUFF

and no we aren't picky! they bring back comps but are so lazy they can't even judge them. it's not much to expect to have one staff member go through a few rooms and check they are deserving.

I think it's because staff tend to trust users more in regards to competitions lol. They probably believe that everyone is going to make a themed room and leave it at that, when an awful lot of people know that is not the case and loads will just cheat. Staff (excluding a few "testers") barely check into the hotel anymore so I wouldn't expect them to do anything related onto the hotel.
It's just ludicrous the amount of cheating that goes on though and how ignorant they are towards it.
All I want is full length news articles please :(.

And ok will go to that room after i go get my burning dinner oops.

Room Design competitions are good but the voting system isn't as it's unfair. That's where the change needs to be applied, not get rid of the competition altogether. This is why we should have dedicated community staff who actually use the bloody Hotel to deal with this sort of stuff.
going to end up blocked at this rate. i can imagine veins popping from his head right now. LMAO
and no appaz a staff member said that cheating for votes is part of the competition? ;/ nice to know staff are advocating scamming now.

This makes me laugh - How hard is it to get a staff member or two to actually go on and visit these rooms?

I'm not sure where I stand on this subject; it seems to be the same few people who're complaining to him over Twitter about the competition.
Yes, there was a few rooms that were clearly not real entries in the top-ten. However a good few of them were actually created solely for that competition and they managed to get into the top ten, so in theory; you guys should be able to too.
The problem with having staff judge anything (other than it being rather time consuming), is that it usually ends up with the same selection of Habbos being put forward. There will be hundreds of entries and for staff members to go through each and everyone of them would not only be daunting, but boring. it easier to pick rooms you know are going to be designed well.
If you was the staff member, would you really want to spend time going through hundreds of rooms just to end up having the selection you knew you was going to have anyway?

W.t.f ?
Clueless they are :L
ikr. It's not even like they have to go through so many. They would have to check like 20 rooms max :l

Thats because mostly good rooms entered for egypt. If you search savannah now, the entire navigator is full with teen party rooms, wired mazes and boost rooms. There is a hell of a lot more than there was for the egypt one. They don't have to go through hundreds. Just do the top 20 that got the most votes?

Yeah I was just in the client and thought I'd look at all participants in the Savannah comp. It's ridiculous how many aren't Savannah related rooms at all :/
omg Richie; LMAO I don't think he is going to take that well... HAHAHAH

And if the entirety of the top 20 is nothing but teen party rooms? Can you really exclude that many Habbos simply because they cheated with more popular rooms? It's not right that they entered under those circumstances, but that doesn't make it right to exclude them. They followed the rules of entry just like any other room.
YEAH WELL IF HE HAD JUST JUDGED IT FAIRLY WITHOUT THIS ****** BOOSTING ROOMS WINNING THEN MAYBE THERE WOULDNT HAVE BEEN SO MANY COMPLAINTS. honestly he's such an idiot

Using Habbos to judge a Habbo competition isn't fair? Stray Pixels went alright.

Whats the point of having a comp to design a room, if its just going to be the top ten popular rooms winning? If they were supposed to build a savannah, savannah rooms should win :S And hopefully in the future if they know a staff member would select winners, they won't bother entering.

Because good entries were selected beforehand? We don't have that with the room comps.

That's easily solved surely? They can't be bothered to go on Habbo therefore they could use their Facebook, their competition email or their Twitter to post an image of their room with the room ID to ensure that it's truthful then they can just choose that way. However, they could change that to a voting method - the participants enter their room they send the ID and screenie to the Habbo competitions email, the staff then post them on Facebook like Stray Pixels without the room ID (to ensure you can't just go see the owner and vote out of pure popularity) and then they can vote?!
Seriously I doubt Paul even knew what Habbo was like in 2001 so he needs to get his act together.

yeah well we didn't have to go around rooms did we? we'd see the furniture or whatever and pick it.
comparing this to straypixels is stupid.

he wants technology to do everything for him. he thinks that he shouldnt have to move, he thinks the staff shouldnt have to come online when something can be automatic to save them the time and hassle. someone needs to invent a game like habbo to show the sulake employees how things are supposed to be run.
Using Habbos to judge a Habbo competition isn't fair? Stray Pixels went alright.
The earlier versions of stray pixels were judged by a group of habbos chosen for their obvious skill in the area, lead by a habbo staff member, also experienced with graphics. I don't see why this can't be the case for the newer comps. Assign one, perhaps two, staff members to lead a group of experienced habbos (who would obviously need detach themselves from their friends somehow) to help go through the rooms.
They don't have to vote the rooms, just vet them and remove those that don't deserve to be there. Public voting is good but only when it's legitimate. (fake) giveaways should be outlawed and if anybody tries to cheat to their room should be removed from the competition. If paul wants more entries then maybe he shouldn't FORCE people to buy the new furni in order to enter the comp...
As already stated, the newer stray pixels is a global comp meaning 1. more people enter, 2. more people vote, and 3. the top three are more heavily vetted.
My suggestion would be to keep the current format, only allow one vote per habbo ID, get one staff member to remove boost rooms or teen parties or those that have just dropped a few savannah items in a room and leave it at that for now. Hopefully something more thorough will be implemented for later comps, I'd hate to see this type of comp be removed again.

There's a loop hole about buying the furni. Put it in someone's group room then pick it uo they can enter comp. The amount of rooms I've seen without anything in thoigh or any of key things.
I really have like zero respect for Paul right now. His vision for habbo is just :-l It isn't what no one else wants and he doesn't accept any feedback he does not agree with.

Sorry to just barge in like this, but that's what's happening at RMG :) - I like to sit on Paul's twitter feed and see what he has planned, so I can do exactly the opposite with the RMG communities and help produce games/virtual worlds that are actually meaningful, and not Habbo's endless changes.

He gets provoked to easy, lets provoke him.
But really all this room stuff needs to be more organised in some way or another, it's not fair letting others win for "fake" rooms whilst people like Red; actually make rooms.

Glad he's aware of the issue and hopefully they'll make changes.. maybe change the room competition judging method back to the old ways? I'm still annoyed that flashattacks booster won Top 10 and that death run also, when they had the minimum amount of furni in them.

I agree with Matt. I think it is a great system just unfair because it can be rigged and so many rooms don't get the publicity so no votes even if they are amazing.
