Hi there,

Just bought a new PC and the graphics says it's good for Flight Sim X but not for 200. LMFAO, WHAT THE ****??

Isn't the minimum requirements for both games something like a 32MB Dx9 card lol

Did you build the computer or buy it

AlexHenry
23-07-2012, 12:41 PM
I bought it for like £1000 pounds - It's got nvidia Geforce in it and it says works really well with FSX on the system and fair with FS200. ;) scottish;

by FS200 I assume you're talking about 2004?

Which nVidia card

What PC

Should of built it

AlexHenry

Haha lmao I know the PC World man said that and er the NVDIA GeForce GT545 scottish;

That's a pretty poor graphics card for a £1000 system! Definitely should have built it yourself. I wouldn't trust a thing PC World say. They are nothing but salesmen that tell you crap to get your money. I love going in there and listening to the **** they reel off to get the sales. Makes me cringe!

I only spent about £1200 on my computer and my graphics card is about a million times better :l

AlexHenry

But he said it will run FSX very well and The Sims 3. :)

Kieran

What CPU have you got? FSX is CPU heavy, not gfx card heavy. No idea about the Sims 3.

Intel Core i7-2600 CPU @3.40GHz (8 CPUs)

Omg and now I put in a CD and it clicks away - its a monitor screen information CD.

Should have built it yourself like literally everyone said in the previous thread lol

You got ripped by sound of it, post full list of specs.

At least the CPU is decent. So yes, FSX will run well. Still wished people would build their own systems or find people to. Hate seeing corporations rip people off because they don't think they have an alternative.

The PC World guy said I should build my own system. He was like cheaper, twice as much stuff and easy, slot the stuff in. He said he would do stuff for me but I'm on holiday and the staff in my local PC World are *******. :( So FSX will run well and the graphics on the aircraft?

It would have worked out a lot cheaper to build it yourself. Yeah FSX should be fine. After all, it is quite an old game now.

What do you mean by monitor information dvd? What is meant to be on it?

"monitor information" = what?

monitor drivers etc? any monitor now-a-days basically is plug and play so don't need it..

get list of specs from PC world site of your receipt

and because 1k for that is stupid, could build that for probably like 500 lol

The GT 545 is worth about £45.

You basically spent 4.5% of your budget on the graphics card.

OK I wasn't going to post as I don't know a ton about computers... but seriously why would you post saying oh it's not good enough, then when you're given perfectly good alternatives you still decide to stay with the barely working one?

PC World are literally idiots, half of them are told to SELL and have no idea what they're on about. They have barely any idea of computers, and if they do it's the basic specs. I was in there asking for graphics cards and the guy literally picked up the most expensive and said 'this is the best'.

You won't get a better deal buying pre-built (not including overclockers) systems. Definitely not the specs you want for that price.

I've told you why. FSX is CPU heavy and you have a decent CPU where as FS2004 relies on GFX card more, which unfortunately isn't that great, hence it saying FSX runs better.

You can never trust that Can You Run it website on telling you that you can run a certain game. My current laptop atm using that site says I can run Team Fortress 2 on minimum settings, but not Rusty Hearts, yet Rusty Hearts runs fine at Highest settings and TF2 just lags like hell with everything off.

You can buy it off the internet, but I think it would be better to just go to a computer store and buy your case/tower first. But first decide what graphic's GPU memory everything like that you wan't before you get this case or tower because not everything is going to fit if you buy a small ass case. By the way if your going to do this, get water cooling system. Just some advice

Only really quoting you because you're the last one to say take it back. :P

Whilst he should take it back (I agree with every Tom, Richard and Harry here), if he is now using it he most likely won't be entitled to a refund (this is instore) simply because it's out of the box, seal broken etctc. Unless the whole raise your voice being a complete pillock riot act (I don't miss that side of retail) has enabled, I'd be surprised that they'd get their money back. Unless of course there's performance issues caused by hardware -cough-

At the end of the day, OP, you asked for advice, advice from guys (maybe dolls can't remember) who have been doing this for yonks, chose to ignore it and now you have a PC that, will work for Flight Simulator, at a too high price.

If you are going to take it back listen to the knowledgeable guys (Tech forum people), if you don't want to build it (I don't see why not), use Overclockers and select the spec Intricat; used (http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=754883&p=7626309#post7626309) = happier days.
