I guess having my own fashion house is the sort of ultimate dream, in a realistic sense I'm more likely to end up designing for someone else but yeah (profitable) self-employment is the goal I suppose

I have been self employed for a while, in my opinion its not really a good idea because you don't have many references when you decide you want another job.

i'd love to, it would make life so much easier. you'd be the one with the rules and don't always have to refer to someone higher up. employing people would be lovely too.

My dad's self-employed and I think it'd really depend on the job. There's not much job consistency with being self-employed. My dad can earn anything from £25,000 a year to as low as £8,000 a year and that variation can be very hard on the family. I'd rather have financial security but ideally it would be self-employed doing something I love with finanical security but if I had to choose between the two, I'd choose the latter just to stay sane!

As a business, no. However, my ultimate goal is to be an author, and they are technically self-employed so I wouldn't mind that.

Already am i guess, as i own my own company. Although i don't own 100% so its not really i can do what ever i want, their is other directors etc, but its a lot more work than working for a company.

Unless you do it the other way around.

Probably not, it's a lot more responsibility than I would really want unless things really kicked off to the point where your input was not required on the day-to-day running

I do a little bit of Photography as a 'self employed' business I guess,
It pays off well when it works out,
But it's hard to get 'clients' as it were.

Yeah I guess I probably would. If all goes to plan I'd love to run my own lawyers firm.
