Just noticed Windows Live Messenger 2012 and other of the live products have just been released but haven't been able to find a change log right now.

Although I had read they planned to get rid of the live brand. I wonder if this is the plan once Windows 8 is out.

I don't believe it's anything major, not to the messenger side of things. Probably a load of bug fixes/cleaning things up and a few features here and there such as Lync support.

If there is no major changes I'll be sticking to version 2009 then, couldn't stick 2011!

Custom names is old school and was something I used to do back in the days of primary and high school - All about looking professional now! I joke about the last bit.

cant go wrong with a bit of colour in your name :( not sure why they changed it
i rarely use msn these days except for rare business so i cant really complain, i'll stick with 2009 regardless of 2012 updates :P

I don't know if its just me, but when you get a new message the message alert sound doesn't play at all. Did they take it out? :S

How odd. I'll re-install it and see if that makes any difference.

probably won't bother updating mine, not much point if there's not many changes

Updates are always good even if it doesn't bring anything you can see. Back-end changes such as bug fixes is always a win in any software update.

Have you tried removing the MSN chace, app settings and maybe doing a sweep with ccleaner - registry and stuff

Nope but I will certainly give it a try when I'm on win8 again. Thanks!!
