Meteor Showers

last time i looked out for a meteor shower i was just standing outside with a couple of planes being the only things that moved in the hour I stood out there

I really need a transparent ceiling in my room

sky is nice and clear so i might have a little look later if im still up

I just looked out for about 5-10 mins. I think I saw one, but it was so fast, I can't be certain.

I feel like a **** sitting out in my garden here by myself

sat out there for 20 minutes and saw nothing in front of a completely clear sky

If you want to observe the Meteors you need to go out somewhere where there isn't much light in the sky in order to have a better chance of seeing the fainter meteors, but you also need to let your eyes adapt to the dark so when you first go out depending how clear the sky is and where you are, at first you won't see many stars but after 10-15 minutes of being outdoors the amount of stars you see will increase, then you're more likely to see the meteors. But other than that there isn't really anything else you can do apart from look up.

Meteors are normally quite bright and have a trail, other things you might see in the sky are satellites which are often quite faint and just seem to drift across the sky and sometimes just fade out as the light they're reflecting is obscured. Obviously aircraft and even the International Space Station (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Space_Station) which is quite bright and moves quite quickly across the sky.
