can anyone recommend any decent podcasts? preferably comedic ones, but don't mind any others. i've listened to all of the ricky/steven/karl podcasts, and so that's kinda motivated me to start listening to more.

Definitely The YogPod (http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-yogpod/id304557271) as Ashley pointed out. Does kind of depend on your sense of humour. I always listen to A Life Well Wasted (http://alifewellwasted.com/) when I want to kill 45 minutes or I'm drifting off.
