so here is my alt - a Handbot from Doctor Who Series 6 Episode 9 The Girl Who Waited

That's actually rather good!!
The thing I would change though is you added the metal strips that go down their legs
but other than that great first alt!

Its a good attempt but seems more of a re-colour when comparing to the actual handbot. The structure is nothing like the hand bot itself.

Looks pretty good for a first alt, but you should add the metal details and the black parts on the arms.

It doesn't really look like honest metal. Metal - truly - has shine to it and spots where it's darker than others. Same with the buttons. None of it looks realistic, and the legs look blocky, like norm pants. Try deleting the line separating the start of the shoes and the end of the pants. It should look connected better, at least.
Of course, you probably aren't aiming on it looking like the real, but more like the Habbo. So in that case, just tweak it a little. A smidgen.
