hello! i'm starting drama school soon and on my required equipment list they've suggested that rather than using a bulky laptop (which obviously could get in the way of movement in physical assessments and can take a while to log on etc) that students could look into getting a handheld device and then in brackets it says e.g: ipad.

well, as much as i would love an ipad i am very poor so i'm looking at kind of cheap alternatives. it'll be mainly used for note-taking quickly and maybe creating mindmaps/planning performance and if there was a camera or something that could record video too that'd be great.

i dunno if i'm describing a product that isn't available but does anyone have any ideas? price is key here, i'm not really bothered about memory/os/whatever just as long as it's pretty cheap and i can at least do the first two things i mentioned.

+rep thanks xxxx

Generally the cheap ones are horrible Chinese rubbish. The only decent tablet for your budget is this, which is stupidly good for the price.

If you only want it for taking notes and drawing stuff why not get a pad of paper lol

Indeed :P Nothing is more annoying in a quiet environment than someone bashing on their keyboard making scratchy tapping noises when taking notes. Pen and paper beats tablets/laptop any day.

And the Nexus 7 is amazing, just got one of them. £199 for that is a huge bargain.
