Donator/VIP?

So I remember years back when Sulake decided to kick up a fuss about people paying fansites for VIP features (does this even apply anymore? I mean, are there official fansites anymore?). So VIP was scrapped, and Donator was created - essentially the same thing.

But right now, some people are VIPs, yet others are donators? Just wondering if there's any reason for this that I've missed?

The rule still applies, I asked about it when these changes were put into place. Some people have VIP because they have either won it from competitions, staff of the month or member of the month. Others will have VIP because we make it available on sale at Christmas where all the funds go to a charity - This makes us able to put it on sale during that month only.

VIP is still sold at Christmas, but all donations go to charity, and also given out for competitions,
So, is slightly better than donator.

VIP is a prize, Donator is something you buy to keep the site up and running. The prize for winning or becoming a MOTM (Member of the Month) is VIP.

Or is MOTM just donator? They're both the same these days :(

Bigger avatar/sig limits, html usertitles, rep for each month of VIP, bigger PM limits and so forth. Just like donator privileges, with a bit more.

Well, I looked on the FAQ, and it looks to me that Donator is quite crap compared to VIP. Donator really only get the name colour and the bigger avatars/signatures. Looks like Sulake scrapping VIP really hurt all the people that donate on a regular basis.

Another question; When did Habbox Staff go from Maroon to Green? Were the Green VIPs consulted over this? :P

You normally donate to the site to help it and in a return you get a coloured name as a thanks. I don't think there were any green username colours when it changed for staff members so it wasn't a problem.

User CP > General Settings > Top settings (Invisible On/Off).

If chosen by the department manager then you get a month of VIP.
