Hey,
I got a new router today Cisco EPC 392 I am wired directly with a CAT5 but for some reason my router decides to kick me off the web for a few seconds every couple of hours. I mean the connect seems to be fine between those hours but every two or three hours it 'refreshes' or something along those lines, kicking me off skype, msn or anything else I'm using, strange thing is the internet doesn't seem to be booting my brother off and he's on a wireless connection which is strange. I'd imagine there's some sort of settings on the main router panel but i'm not quite sure and if there's it wouldn't make sense to kick me off and not my brother. Anyone got any ideas? it refreshes for a split second and kicks me off everything.

I get this at my parents house. Bloody annoying! Never did find the cause for it cause no one else got kicked off except me!

Aww man, I've been on the phone to my ISP loads this week. They're getting sick of me :P. I might give them a bell tomorrow but if anyone has any suggestions in the mean time I'd really appreciate it.

Could it possibly be the network I'm connected through? I know I'm connected to port 3 but I don't see how changing it would make a difference. Oh and I just asked my brother did he notice anything different and he said he gets booted off xboxlive every few hours which is a direct connection also.

Are you sure that's your router's make/model? I wouldn't have thought Cisco would be used in a home environment and I can't find any information on that model?

I think they made an exception because we were getting some strange noise coming through the line outside which degraded the connection by loads and they couldn't find a solution so offered to replace the router with one this one. I'm getting 135mbs but at times youtube videos take the piss to load on the lowest settings and as I said the connection seems to refresh every so often it's getting so frustrating :(

@Recursion (http://www.habboxforum.com/member.php?u=13064);

do you think this has anything to do with it? Client lease time

Well unless there is some serious flaw with the router that should not affect anything as the computer should automatically attempt to renew the IP address lease when half of the time of the expiry has elapsed (i.e 30mins in this case). Although if the computer could not renew the IP address you would lose internet connectivity.

So it could be failing to renew the ip address? Have you got any suggestions pal?

I don't think it is very likely it is the cause but to rule it out try changing the lease time to 0 which is apparently one day. No harm setting it to one day in a home environment anyway.

I'll try that thanks

I'm going with Tomm.

The Client Lease Time is the amount of time a network user will be allowed connection to the Router with their current dynamic IP address. Enter the amount of time, in minutes, that the user will be "leased" this dynamic IP address.

This could explain why it's randomly cutting out so much. I'd set it to zero too :) - No harm in it.

I reset my router this morning, unplugged it etc and it seems to be working fine now :P left the lease time how it was

Lets hope it stays that way ! :)
