View Full Version : Right side numbness?

Well recently I have been getting a weird thing on the right side of my body. Well it's mainly below my waist.

My right leg goes numb, and feels really tight, and it can last for ages. It isn't a cramp and isn't painful, I can tell.

Anyone had this before and know what it is? I'm just curious because it's always the right side of my body and the same feeling of numbness and tightness. Slight tingling to.

could be putting pressure on your nerves

I don't know what I could be doing that does that? I don't do exercise anymore because of back problems and health issues, but i'm not in-active. I don't sit for long or in weird positions, most the time my legs are rested.

standing too long can do it too afaik

Mm ok, just curious to why it numbs one side of my body, and the strongest side of my body too.
Thanks anyway.

I have scoliosis in my back, I don't dare think it could be causing it? The curve in my spine is slowly bending more...?

well nerves for your legs start in your lower back so it could be possible. only a doctor can say for sure really.
probably not even nerves

Yeah, trying to avoid the doctors because I spend my life there, but again look's like I won't have a choice.

Well my curving in the spine starts at the bottom. But it was just the last time I got this was an hour ago and I was lying in bed.

might be worth a try calling nhs24 and seeing what a nurse says if a doctor is last resort for you

Mhm, could do, I don't like to feel like i'm wasting their time though D:

And I assume you mean the NHS Direct - I'm in England :p

had a feeling it'd be different in england, but yeah same thing i suppose
and its better safe than sorry, they're there for a reason :P

I've requested a call back so they can call me when they aren't so busy, i'll feel less bad then :p

It's just made me weary because I have been getting a wobbly vision where my vision feels like it's swinging from side to side but my eyeballs aren't actually feeling. It's that spinning around feeling but it just comes on. So I just want to rule out any spinal nerve or neurological problems. Sounds hypochondriac like, but my history isn't good so my doctor always asks me to report anything even if its little :p

Update: NHS called back and they want me to get checked out for MS :s Wasn't expecting that but i'll be down to my GP first thing tomorrow! Cheers for the help anyway!

sounds like a stroke

Lmao, it wasn't a stroke, don't worry that crossed my mind but I did the FAST test :p

My doctor has booked me in for priority blood test at 9am tomorrow :| but she basically said they are symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis, she wants to rule out diabetes and anaemia though. So yay for me, problems pile on <3 x

Oh :S that happened to my left side and it was caused by pressure on my nerves. Hopefully it's nothing serious for you :)

It can also be caused by bad posture. Laptops are very bad for posture 'cause you lean over them a lot more. If you do this, it might be worth trying to sit at a desk?

It doesn't usually come on when i'm on my laptop or sitting in a bad posture that's what confuses me :p

It doesn't have to be. Having bad posture can cause numbness and sometimes even pain at any time if you have been slouching for long enough :P

Well, I said this to them, but the wobbly vision and vertigo has nothing to do with that so she is accessing them together :(

Anyway, I'll know soon if I am diabetic, anaemic or have multiple sclerosis , happy days.
