Slapped or snapped?

Maybe you are just fed up waiting to start University? Have you made the most of the long break that you’ve had? Or has it all been work?

Going to University is the start of a new and rewarding journey and one you should be looking forward to, are you excited or nervous and anxious, and are you worried about anything in particular?

I really really really hope he meant snap.

yeah I go through moods where I just cant stand certain people and seeing them makes me angry inside but I'm just an angry person in general. I'm sure as soon as you've settled in at uni you'll feel like your old self. Probably just subconsciously worried about all the changes currently taking place in your life/meeting new people at uni and moving away from friends etc so I'm sure once you've settled into your new life you'll feel relieved.

Slapping at people? I hope you used the wrong word cause if you did, you really have problems. 'slapping' people is not a good thing, learn how to relieve your stress like take a deep breath, smile? or maybe take a short vacation to somewhere you like before you start your uni. Why are you stressed about starting uni? Starting uni could be a massive change, you will meet new people and make new friends, learn new things but assessments could stress you out easily but try to relieve your stress and you'll feel better.

Well I've been waiting for uni for almost a whole year now; I left college and went straight to work, as in todays date, you need education and experience. So yea its been pretty much work work work. All I seem to do is wake up > work > sleep, Loop: over and over I don't have much of a social life at this moment due to the fact I moved from Devon to London so therefore not knowing anyone part from work colleges.

I am looking forward to it, don't get me wrong. just loads of people are telling me I shouldn't do it, (due to the gov messing it up every single year) but for the line of work I wish to go into, I need a degree. The fees are quite worrying though. 9K a year for just the course itself. Thankfully I have some money behind to help me a little bit. But 'cos I don't come from a rich family I had to get the Student finance deal, so pretty much the gov owns me for life.

I'm little worried about starting though; at college I did IT, English and business. Did well within them subjects but now I'm going onto a completely different style of learning, Criminology side. I have books on were I have been reading.. but the people who are also starting my course already know half of it due to their college choices.. so thats worrying due to my learning difficulties (Yey for human life.). The last thing I want is to be 'forseen' dumb or whatnot around uni; As you said.. its a new start.

Yea sometimes a nice beer helps aha. Short vacation I cannot do.. that requires money. I'm not compelety stressed about starting uni. even though I have so much still to get, I got most of the uni books required; I just need like the essentials for home life.. like an iron. Maybe its the fact I'm moving away into a big new city.. but others will be in the same boat, so once there it be fine. Making friends will be easy, I find it easy to make friends tbh.

Thank god you meant snapped... Anyways I'm sure this is quite common I read once that one of the most stressful things in life was change (for example starting a new job, in your case uni) it's going to be a big change obviously. Like others have said I'm sure you'll be fine once you make friends and settle in. Don't listen to people who're telling you not to go to Uni, it's great and it's an experience that will be with you forever. As for the work work work thing, well my friend... That's pretty much life so get used to it unless you win the euromillions. You mention learning difficulties, I wouldn't worry too much Universities have loads of support for things like this, when my mum was at Uni she got a free laptop and loads of other stuff because she's dyslexic. If you do find yourself struggling though ASK FOR HELP!!! There's nothing wrong with needing help also there's going to be plenty of others who are in the same boat as you so stop worrying and enjoy the opportunity!

you shouldn't really worry about the money side of uni. the student finance thing goes after 30 years and you only pay back what you can afford.

I’m glad it’s snapped! You are human :)

You have planned your future, stay strong and don’t let anyone try to steer you in a different direction if you want to achieve your goals. Already you have taken a big step, and that must have been challenging, so well done on leaving Devon for London particularly on your own. Finding work during these difficult times has been another challenge and you’ve done that too.

Life really is what we make it; your destiny is in your hands. Other students will not have travelled to London yet, they will have anxieties whilst you have already learnt to settle in a new environment, so do try and relax in some way possible, step out of the loop and do something you enjoy. You need to stop worrying that there will be students in a more advantageous position, everyone attending is there to further their education and most will be on the same starting block as you. As to the cost I imagine that many will have student loans, so again don’t feel any different, because you’re not alone on this. Also if you need help there is no shame in asking for help when you need it, it will be worse if you don’t ask!

Oh yes the iron :) surely someone in the family has an old one in need of a new home?

As has been said, you have an opportunity to gain a degree in a field you enjoy, make the most of it, although hard work will be involved, there will be fun along the way :)

Are you moving into Halls?

Don't worry about this, loads of people who go to University are new to the subject they are taking. Heck, quite a few college courses are not the same as university courses. It's like the transition from GCSE to A-Level, you realise that quite a lot of your GCSE qualifications were either incorrect or so vague that it would be worthless in any real life situation. Criminology is a very specific subject area, those who studied it at college only know a tiny bit of it - if they studied law, psychology or sociology (the usual starting ground for criminologists) they only covered the basics, which most Universities will teach you in the first few weeks :)

Best wishes for University. The build up to moving is incredibly stressful. Apologise to your Manager and take deep breaths, and stay calm :)

Men go through a monthly hormone cycle, similar to women (but obviously without the blood). It may just be that?

The thing that is making you stress is that you are giving yourself no free time.
Get out there, take an hour out and drive (or walk) around for an hour, clear your head and just enjoy senseless calm without having to worry about anything.
On the other hand, once you start University, you will have so much free time (depending on the course) and you will make amazing friends and meet unbelievable people that will stay with you throughout your life!

Conclusion, don't fret, it's not unusual. Just give yourself some time, play some games, walk, talk, go annoy your siblings (if you have any) to just have a little laughter.

Laughter is the most important thing to a human being.
