Today is the Men's Singles final and Andy Murray will take on Novak Djokovic, the current defending champion in hopes of winning his first major grand slam title.
What do you think, will Andy manage to pull it off?

He may do but I know Djokovic is a really good player. I bet my mum will be torn tonight as she loves Djokovic and wishes him to win each match but she's British so wants Andy to do well too! I guess only time will tell :D!

Murray has done very well recently and it's particularly been brought to the public's (and media's) attention during Wimbledon and the Olympics. Hopefully tonight will be the night! :)

As much as I love Djokovic, I really want Andy to win this... I mean this is his fifth grand slam final yet he's never won, I think he deserves it so much and he did absolutely fantastic at the Olympics, defeating the No.1 to win a gold medal! I hope he can smash it! Novak is a very tough opponent, but with the way he has been playing recently - anything is possible!

Andy has been playing really good lately, although I can see Djokovic winning. Would be good for Andy to win, he was really good at the olympics.

Murray can't win tonight guys.
Sadly he is well known for choking in major finals.

After he broke Djokovic's serve in the first game, I had hope that he would win the set with ease! But things aren't going to plan at the moment... so many wasted chances already :(

Expect a lot of service breaks in these conditions :P It's difficult to hold on to your serve when it's so windy :P

Yeah that rally was just amazing! It's a shame they're quite rare, my breathing actually went! Think Andy could have easily broke then and had a 5-2 lead, but his footwork kind of let him down, was off balance several times :(

WHAT A RALLY AT THE NET!

I still think the conditions are putting him off! I don't know he's not himself :(

He's falling all over the place which is a bit strange (apparently he's well known for sliding? :P). It's almost like he's tensed up whereas Murray is staying calm and gliding from one side to the other.

The live reporting on the BBC, is quite funny.
Murray 7-6 (12-10) 7-5 2-3 Djokovic*
Murray starts the game like the opening of a Batman movie. A crosscourt forehand winner for 30-0. Kerpow. An unreturnable serve into the wings for 40-0. Kerping. And it's kerboom as a crafty serve into the Djokovic ribcage secures the Scot a trouble-free hold to 15.

If he would have lost that match, imagine the hell he would have received from the media? But well done to him, hopefully this is only a start to many many more!

I am so disappointed I couldn’t stay up to watch the end of the match; I knew he could do it, if he just believed in himself.
Choosing the ‘Sports Personality of the Year’ will not be easy.
Congratulations Mr Murray :)

Because the media are in his shoes....! He would all of a sudden been 'Scottish' and not 'British' if he lost, same every single time!

I'm a fan of Murray and never understood the hate against him, but from speaking to people I know, people dislike him because apparently he dislikes Britain, which I don't think is entirely true.
But I don't understand the reclutance that Scots have in being called British, Sean Connery said in the interviews for people to stop calling Murray British because he's Scottish...
Nevertheless, amazing win for Murray, here's hoping for more Grand Slam victories :D

Yeah I've heard several stories about Murray's dislike for England, in the World Cup when England were playing with Paraguay, he wore a Paraguay T-shirt :P Oh and I think he said something along the lines of 'I'd rather _______ than be British!'

I don't mind being called British, but i know a lot of Scottish do. At the same time, Welsh like to be Welsh and Irish like to be Irish. The point i was making was.. everytime Andy Murray was playing the hype was all about him being 'British' and everyone was backing him and waheyyyyyyyyyyyy! Then when he had some unfortunate losses.. he's all of a sudden Scottish again.
I'm proud of him, i was proud of him at Wimbeldon. It's nice to see a Scottish face doing well in a sport.

But he is British. Do people not understand the difference between being English and British? It doesn't bother me if he doesn't like England, and I can understand his frustration in being called English when people mean British.
And I understand the thing of the whole media perception, I just don't understand why Scottish/Welsh/Northern Irish people don't like being called British.
It's like me being offended at being called European, or Human...

He actually explained why he said that and it's because someone teased him about something and he just replied back, not sure exactly what it was about.
I personally refer to him as both when talking about tennis and to be honest, I don't see this "when he's winning he's British, when he's losing he's Scottish" idea ever being used by commentators (also the fact both statements are true).

They aren't used by commentators, they're used in the media. Mostly in newspapers and stuff 'The third seeded Scot was knocked out of blahblah' but then 'The first Brit to win a major grand slam since blahblah' - see the difference? :P It's not highly noticeable so I guess most people don't pay attention to it

Oh right, I don't see what's bad. When I heard it on the news earlier they did say "the first Briton to win a grand slam in 76(?) years" but followed by "and the first Scot ever".

That's perfectly acceptable when referring to statistics in my opinion...
