When it comes to hostgator the only reason I didn't choose them is because they charge you 10 bucks a year for ID Protection. 2mhost offers this for free. One of my main selling points was this.

Pay for quality.

That is a good point. I guess it's different for anyone though. I have been using 2mhost for the past 6 years without any problems at all, 24/7 live support. Great prices.

I do however agree with you though. Hostgator is a really good reputable company.

HostGator is by far the biggest and most reputable company out there, I don't use them anymore i use SimplexWebs mainly for the deal they made me, even tho previously i have been anti-simplexwebs as sometimes they seem to be quite rude and obnoxious

I've never heard of this company at all. I will defiantly have to check it out though.

Hmm. A web hosting company that has been compromised. Once, who knows maybe more then that... I don't think I would feel safe giving them my credit card number.

I loved SimplexWebs from the near beginning, but something is putting me off them a bit nowadays. The only other host I recommend these days is This*WebHost (http://thiswebhost.com/)

If it's your first website I'd go with something cheap + reliable > So just out of personal experience I'd go with 1+1.

Just an idea :) Goodluck ^

Just an idea :) Goodluck ^Hmm, when I was using the control panel from 1and1 they only offered a few features such as FTP whereas you could probably get cPanel hosting which is easier for new users for the prices they offer.

Also, when I purchased a web domain from them a year or two back I had emailed them about two weeks before my domain was due to expire to tell them I wouldn't be renewing it and I had no reply, then not long after I received an invoice even though I told them and they threatened to send a debt collection agency. Luckily, I managed to get in touch with a member of support to explain the situation and provide evidence and they removed the invoice so just make sure you sort everything out if you do plan on moving to another host with 1and1.

Grim times! Never had problems so far, but I haven't used them in a little while. I hope they haven't gone AOL on everyone and refuses to let people leave. It's a hostage situation.

Hey,

I'll PM you my e-mail address, if you drop me a line I might be able to work out a deal for you on SimplexWebs.

I know it can be daunting seeing what has happened in our past, but we've been running fine for a long while since then and take security extremely seriously now (as Harry can vouch for, he's often having to sort me out when I've accidentally lost all my access...) and we recently invested heavily in new infrastructure (that we own 100% straight from Dell, not leased or anything) up in Manchester with SSDs, guaranteed RAM for each client etc. If you want, we can set you up with a free trial of some kind?

You work for Simplex now too? News to me.

Again, I would recommend Simplexwebs, I don't currently have any hosting with them, I did before I decided I no longer needed it, tried to sign up again an they wouldn't let me have my old package at the same price again :P

Ah well.

Sorry to hear that. What seems to be the problem? Again, email me if something is not right. Chances are I can put things straight for you where our support team can't.

zfast.co.uk - Been using them for 2-3years and never been down, very affordable prices (I dont like to use the word cheap!) and the support is incredible.. even when I've been unable to pay bills they've kept my sites up for days.. highly recommended!

Still no email back from you!

Another good one is zFast, I didn't have hosting with them for long, but never had any problems in the time I did.
So, another vouch for zFast.

Well i use zfast.co.uk its pretty cheap once you buy a domain for 4.99 GBP a year, and for hosting you can get it for 1 GBP a month.. which is alot more cheaper than most sites that i find.
