XBOX or PS3

I've decided to buy myself a console to keep me away from sniffing/drinking/smoking my well earned money away!

What's best XBOX or PS3?

There really isn't that much difference between the two. PS3 offers free online play though so thats always a plus if you're not wanting to pay the £40 per year for xboxlive.

Yeah, I'm not an Xbox person but I don't have any to judge. I've played on my boyfriends Xbox and I know there are a lot of better games for it. Like others have said it depends on what your friends have, what games you enjoy etc.

i've had both consoles and would choose an xbox over a ps3 anyday.

but yh it all depends on what you're looking for. if you're looking for online gaming then i'd choose the xbox. although it's free for the ps3, i find xbox live a lot better and worth the money you pay for membership. i find it much easier to use too. the whole chat system and dashboard on the xbox is brilliant imo.

Xbox without a doubt. Many of my friends were pro-Playstation for years. Then when they finally bought an Xbox, they admitted it was better.

It really depends what your friends have and what type of games they have.

If they have HALO, they obviously get a XBOX 360.

But if you want to play online without spending money, I would choose the PS3. I have a PS3 and I rarely ever play a XBOX so I would chose PS3.

I'm a PS3 fan, always have been... I have owned a xbox360 before, it was quite cool, the online gaming was good on it. But Deep down in a mega ps3 fan... I like playing my games in a blue-ray styled and playing free online etc.

My advise is mate, judge it on what your friends have; and if you like online gaming :)

but yea i would normally say playstation but after friends had got xbox and played GEARS OF WAR i was just XBOX MAD lol :) so personally i would say xbox but it depends on what you want from the console.

Go for a PS3, you'll get Dust514, a new revolutionary persistent online shooter - for free! In the immersive world of new eden Dust514 sets players as planetary soldiers taking control of facilities etc. for their employers in spaceships above. In all seriousness it doesn't matter what you get, but if you want an Xbox just wait 12 months and get the next one instead.

I have an Xbox but kinda wished I got a PS3. It seems like a better console, and I had a ps2 and was always a fan of playstations. However the price was the issue at the time, the xbox was that much less expensive. If I could change it now, I'd get a ps3.

xBox360 and PS3 are equal in their own ways, they have some different games, must pay for xboxlive so on... just because you have to pay for xbox live doesn't make the ps3 better, they're better in their own ways...

in the end, it's up to you... everyone has their own opinion, personally I prefer the xbox because I think it has better games, whereas others may think PS3 has better games. Hmm..

PS3, I am used to all the Sony products so I prefer to stay with what I'm used to. I don't like XBOX one bit.

It's nice to play PS3 games that only use one discs where some on xbox 360 has multiple. I bought L.A Noire for 360 and i had to swap discs when i got to a certain point in there game. BTW PS4 comes out in about a year

Xbox has far better exclusives (in my opinion) than PS3, you pay for a top notch online service (Xbox Live has never gone down for months at a time because of bad security...) and, if this is a selling point for you, the controller is just far better designed than the PS3 one.

I have both, but I do prefer my PS3. You should base your decision on the exclusives both consoles have instead of the hardware itself though. I couldn't live without Twisted Metal again, more fun than a lot of the FPS online games out there imo.

Have both, Ps3 is used the most and my Xbox is just gathering dust in the corner thinking about selling it.
Sure xbox has a better online service but you pay for it, PSN is free. and it's decent for a free service i can live with out the cross chat, And PSN + gives you lots of free games, i dunno if xbox offers such a service.

Msoft spend millions getting exclusive dlc, limited time release etc but imo ther exclusive games lack.
PS3 have far better exclusive games. Just by going with IGN ratings.

People have their preferences, but I've always batted for Xbox. Ever since I discovered Xbox live on the back end of 03, it has been my favorite console due to Single Player being quite tedious. I do have a playstation and I can't quite like it, the requirement of purchasing a headset, the poor quality of communication and no party system. Just doesn't work for me. Also exclusive games don't appeal to me. Gears of War = Meh, God of War = Meh etc etc

Pointless asking us without telling us what sort of games you want & what consoles your friends have.

If you don't mind paying £40 a year for Xbox Live and your friends have that console, then get the Xbox 360.

But if you don't want to pay £40 a year for Xbox Live, you don't like the exclusive games on Xbox and your friends have PS3 then get that.
