Hey Y'all,

Just wondering if any of you guys design / develop for charity?

I got into talking with someone from a local homeless charity who runs a night shelter so I decided to offer him a website :)

Anyone ever do this and for what reason?

I don't design for charity like you but I tend not to get paid for things I do - I've done a few webpages for friends because yeah it's a nice thing to do. I did write some content for our Oxfam shop (like flyers and things) in real life while I worked there.

It's a lovely thing to do and I really like the design! My only wonder is if they cater for homeless people how useful is a website?

OMG, i just about died.

I was reading this thread and how sweet it is to do stuff for charity etc etc then that one line. I thought about it for a split second and just died with laughter.

As far as i doing websites for cvharity i have been asked numerous times but normally i just don't have chance to work on my own websites let alone someone else s.

I've done quite a bit of charity bits and pieces, the biggest one probably being a local arts center (http://nexusartcafe.com/). I wouldn't make a habit of it, but if you can help out a charity with your talents then so be it!

I really like the Google Maps idea for that site, nice!

I've never really been asked. I did a website for a local church once, but not really a charity organization.

I wonder how many people get on the internet to find a homeless shelter... "Yeah, I Yelped this other place but I saw it only had 2 stars, I came to Luton Night Shelter instead".

Apparently it's for informative bodies too such as doctors / local councils (to know if they have space), the guy is sending me a-load of info to stick on there for him.
