The US network Fox News has apologised for showing a man fatally shoot himself in the head on live television.
Fox News on Friday was covering a high-speed chase that began in Phoenix, Arizona, using a live helicopter shot.
After driving for dozens of miles into the desert, the motorist stopped and ran on to a dirt road. He then put a handgun to his head and fired.

It just highlights an error with Live TV. Viewers should be thankful it didn't happen with a camera closer to the action. The 5 second delay doesn't seem to of been much use, but it's hard to imagine how long 5 seconds is in that context - did the one in control of the feed get hit by the shock of it all and couldn't act to prevent it?

oh god, that's horrible....
I never understood the attraction of live TV car chases and things, there's nothing glamorous about running from the law. And to capture something like that, that's disturbing.

Fox News usually cover car chases from the police etc, it wasn't that bad of a video but from what I can remember reading it was at like 3pm their time so it's not exactly appropriate.

If someone presented the video to you and said it's someone who kills themself you wouldn't dispute it after watching it, but it does take a second or two to realise it.

I just saw it, luckily they weren't close in or that would have looked a lot worse, but yes it wasn't the nicest thing to see really...

this. i would understand if it was a close up, but you can't see anything really. it's only the time thats the issue imo.
